Same here. The photos appear to be “taking” during the mission, upon returning however they do not show up. I switched on video and i could see the drone taking photos yet when it returns it say 0/52 (or however many the grid made)…I fly an SE 3 on an ipad mini 4, sd card is formatted, drone recognized etc. This is clearly a problem that dates back several months ago…i ve yet to fly a mission that successfully transfers photos…so frustrating
I had to give up on the iPad mini 4 because it couldn’t handle any flight app without over heating. A few months back it worked but now it is too under powered.
Also manually check the SD card as I never use the transfer to the tablet.
At me such problem: in Pix4DCapture in DOUBLE GRID MISSION at a corner of an inclination of the chamber of 70 degrees, the chamber looks directly, and at a corner of 45 degrees - as it is necessary. It feels like the horizontal and vertical are reversed. Has anyone had a similar problem?
I have put a post in another discussion.
Using Nexus5 phone and Spark (only manual missions, no planning is possible): working a couple of times and then no image any more
Reinstalled on a Samsung S5: no image at all since the beginning
Reinstalled on LG V600: images taken (till now)
As I see that this is a recurring problem with the huge amount of posts on this subject, why the developers do not provide some better explanation, eventually including optional debugging information so that they can then understand the reasons for not working ?
@Julie Did you solve these issues?
My drone sometimes just freezes in the air and takes unlimited photos :// it doesnt move! I have to abort mission and try several times to make it work anu suggestions??
Phantom 4 pro latest firmware

Hi there,
I am experiencing the same issues: flights with completely random spacing, sometimes the drone freezes and takes several photos. I am testing the app so no problem at the moment, but it is not possible to use the app for professional purposes.
DJI Matrice 600 + DJI Z3 camera + iPad 2.
I have the same issues with “random photos” and “corner freezes” what should we do? As i see there is no reliable app out there, even Paid app…
Hi everyone,
I’ve just used Pix4D for the first time as part of a drone mapping course, and after completing a seemingly successful data collection site, landing and walking 20 minutes back to our course centre I was very disappointed to find that there were no files on the micro SD card! :(
I’m flying an Inspire 2, using a 25mm lens, created a ‘Custom Camera’ profile for the 25mm lens, and I’m running Pix4D Capture 2.9.2 on an iPad Mini running iOS 11.2.6.
Everything was shown as working in the app, all the pre-flight checklist things were ticked in green, and the little camera icon appeared on the map where each image was ‘taken’ … strangely the live video feed didn’t appear and there was no icon to toggle it either …
The 5 other attendees on the drone mapping course all used Pix4D Capture on the following platforms:
- Inspire 2 / 15mm
- Inspire 1 / X3
- Three Phantom 4 Pros
… and everything worked perfectly for them! Go figure …
In terms of how I opened the apps, I opened DJI Go 4 first to set up the exposure, then force quit the DJI Go map and opened the Pix4D app.
After the flight, my Project List looked like this (see below) – as you can see, it thinks that 144 images were taken, but it wouldn’t allow me to download them in the app itself – was this because I was using a ‘Custom Camera’? …
If anyone has any thoughts on this or if there’ve been any developments in the last few weeks regarding this problem I’d be very interested to hear from you.
Many thanks,
David
@ **David Hogg **Did you try to download the imagery from SD card? Are there 144 images on SD card?
Hi Antonio,
There were no images on the memory card (other than ones I’d taken on previous photo shoots). I even tried formatting the card using DJI Go 4 and trying again but the result was the same – no images on the card
Many thanks,
David
It’s a mistery, also if the message on your screenshot says “Image download is not supported…” Did you choose your drone in “Settings” and close and reopen the app before upload mission?
I chose the Inspire 2 and then created a custom camera for the X5S and a lens with a focal length of 25mm …
I’ve now started using DJI’s Ground Station Pro and it worked flawlessly … oh well!
Thanks for your help,
David
Just lost half a day laying out and measuring GCPs, and flying a 3D grid map using the latest versions of everything on an up-to-date DJI Inspire 2. Everything appeared to work, the Pix4DCapture app reported that 900+ images were recorded, yet nothing was on the SD or the CineSSD card! Based on this forum and Google searches, this issue appears to be common and has been occurring for at least a year. Yet, it appears Pix4D hasn’t a clue on the cause, or how to fix it. I’m not holding my breath for a response, but I would be interested if someone is aware of a capture program (Open Source or Paid) that actually works.
As the comment above, I’ve found DJI ground station works perfectly with my mavic, though I haven’t tried pix4d again in a while.
I found by deleting the app, shutting down the iPad and completely reinstalling Pix4D seems to have resolved the issues we personally were experiencing with missing images. I have flown numerous flights since without any failure to capture images.
Hi all,
Thank you for sharing your experiences and helping each other.
It is important to notice that as soon as you are defining a custom camera on the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture, our application will not be able to trigger the camera anymore and a time-lapse will have to be set in the camera itself or in the native application. I guess it explains a few cases reported here.
Note that we do not have any feedback about using DJI standard camera with different lenses. We assume it may work by defining a time-lapse in the native application and a custom camera in Pix4Dcapture but we can not guarantee it and we will be glad to get users feedbacks about that.
Indeed, initially, the custom camera was created to use camera like the Parrot Sequoia or Sony A7RII which are physically disconnected from the drone and where a time-lapse can be defined in the camera settings directly.
Best,
With all due respect, what custom cameras? 99% of people here are talking about stock dji drones with latest firmware that is applicable to when poste were made. Clearly this has nothing to do with chstom cameras. A phantom or a mavic or inspire or whatever should, in theory receive Pix4Dcapture command, go fly. But it does… and comes home with no pictures taken after saying it took them. Given how long this problem persisted, blaming custom cameras is …sigh.
You gotta love the Pix4D “technical support” people. It’s like complaining to a physician about a sore back, and having them tell you it’s Tuesday!
Regarding the “technical support” comment: No feedback about using a DJI camera with different lenses? Seriously? We’ve experienced this issue on two different Inspire 2 drones, with the following official DJI cameras: 4XS, 5Xs, and 7X (using DJI’s 16mm and 24mm lenses). Please tell me what “custom” camera could possibly work on an Inspire 2?
You guys charge $400 / month subscription for Pix4DMapper, take part of that, purchase some DJI drones and actually test your software before releasing it. If you don’t have the talent to fix your own software, publish an open source version and let the community fix it. I’d be happy to help.

@Robert Morse: you are right and I agree with you. Is not possible ask 650€/year (I’ve paid these fees for two years) and are unable to upgrade the OSX version (the last one is the 3.0.18) or give such an answer!
