DJI P4 Pro and Focus/Camera settings

again. been many months now.  a year i think.

hit or miss which is a lot out in the field with 4 batteries and you absolutely need 2 flights.

P4P w iOS.   never know if focus will be on or not.

what drones /  OS are you giving priority to ??

Hey! Have you fixed so that you can use manual camera settings from DJI GO 4 in Pix4d for iOS?
We have found out that the shutter has become too low 1/30 while IOS has been 100,
we have not been able to use these images. Hope you soon solve this.
Best regards,
Tomas Looström

Hello Tomas,

The camera settings using the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture are still set to auto/standard.
However, be reassured that all the comments from our users are taken into consideration for future improvements of our application.

Best,

I flew two projects on the weekend. On both projects I captured with the latest Android Pix4D app and DroneDeploy app.

First project first used DD then Pix4D. (exact same settings, 70m altitude)

Second project first used Pix4D then DD. (exact same settings, 50m altitude)

In each case a prescope flight was conducted in the latest DJI Go 4 app.

All firmware was up-to-date. Tablet is an Nvidia Shield.

all images captured with the DroneDeploy Android app are perfect.

All images captured with Pix4d are blurry and will not process.

Current mapping workflow: Capture in DroneDeploy (much easier/stable user interface, no app crashes/hanging, better and faster live feed, no in-mission beeping) and upload to Pix4D for processing once back in the office.

Left: DroneDeploy    Right: Pix4D

Hi Brett,

Thank you for your feedback.
Are you using a P4P V1 for the experiences you have done or another drone?

Best,

Hi Gaël,

Thank you for your attention.

Capture was with a P4P V2

The images above were both captured at 1/200 sec.

For Pix4D’s information: The above job at 50m altitude: Dronedeploy covered the same area 27% faster with 41% more images using default settings and same flight pattern in both Pix4D and DroneDeploy.

Another example of a 70m altitude capture.

Left: Pix4D,   Right: DroneDeploy (all settings left alone: defaults only)

You can see the shutter speed was slower on the DroneDeploy mission yet much clearer.

Please note, not trying to poo-poo Pix4D, only offer comparable information that highlights a software issue rather than device issue. I’m currently using Pix4D processing, so would be nice to be able to use the app and upload direct from the device rather than double handling from DD into Pix.

Hi Brett,

Thank you for your instructive feedback and tests. It is always useful for us to know more about the user experiences so that we can take it into account in our will to improve our application.

Having such blurry pictures using the Android version of Pix4Dcapture when flying the P4P V2 has not been reported to us so far knowing that the drone is quite popular. Have you been able to make a good acquisition during your tests or the same behavior happens for all the flights you have done? Have the pictures become blurry after a software/firmware update?

You have not mentioned it but most probably checked it, when doing tests like this, to be consistent, the settings in DJI GO 4 has also to be considered.
For DD, I don’t know how the application operates the camera settings when flying but when using the Android version of Pix4Dcapture, the camera settings defined in DJI GO 4 should be taken into account for the image acquisition.
Note that on the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture, the camera settings are set to default/auto for most of the parameters and Pix4Dcapture gives you the ability to set the White Balance to Auto/Sunny/Cloudy.

Best,

Just now, buying phantom 4 pro V2, i have same problems, litle blurry using pix4d on autonomous mission, when i capture manually using dji go, image captured is ok

 this is autonomous using PIX4D

this is manual using DJI GO, i use DJI Phantom 4 Pro V2. is it possible to setting focus in manual using pix4d?

upper = Dronedeploy lower: pix4d , DJI phantom 4 pro V2, alt=100m

Hi Sigit,

Thank you for your feedback and tests. It is very useful.

Can you tell me a bit more about your configuration:

  • Did you use the iOS or Android version of Pix4Dcapture?
  • Are you updated with the latest Pix4Dcapture and Ctrl+DJI versions?
  • Are you updated with the latest drone firmware?
  • In DJI GO 4, did you make sure that the camera settings in DJI GO 4 are set to default/auto?

Indeed using the Android version of Pix4Dcapture, the camera settings defined in DJI GO 4 should be taken into account for the image acquisition so it is maybe worth double checking that the settings are good if set to manual.
Note that on the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture, the camera settings are set to default/auto for most of the parameters and Pix4Dcapture gives you the ability to set the White Balance to Auto/Sunny/Cloudy.

Dear gael

For your information, i have used pix4d for 3 years, from dji phantom 3 advance, dji phantom 3 pro, dji phantom 4 standar, dji phantom 4 pro, and the last dji phantom 4 pro v2.
I never face the problems, except when i update pix4d for the last, 4.5.0 for phantom 4 pro, i think the cable or my camera on the drone, but when i try to manual capture using dji go, the camera is fine,
Camera setting is auto setting, i never face the trouble before

I sold my dji phantom 4 pro, then i buy dji phantom 4 pro v2. Then i use pix4d with auto setting, but the result is same, camera cannot focus, i think i get bad product from dji,

I was streesed, then finally in first time after use pix4d for 3 years, i use other application, and i get food result, i am very concern to my user, for the best result, unfortunately i have to leave pix4d to aerial mapping using dji product. Same problem not focus, i also face on dji mavic pro

Hi Sigit,

We will make some more tests on our side and I will let you know the results of them as soon as possible.

Best,

Any update on Phantom 4 Pro V2 focus issue? I’m using the latest 4.5 version on Android. The issue is still there. The pix4dcapture app turns the focus to manual macro settimg and everything is out of focus. I even tried changing the focus to infinity with the DJI Go app, the Pix4dcapture app changes the focus to near macro setting. Changing the focus setting to auto in DJI app doesn’t work either.

Any workaround or solution for Android user will be much appreciated.

Thanks

This is the problem I have been having with my DJI m210 for 2 or 3 months now. It’s still not fixed. It’s causing me to waste a lot of time and lose money.

Hello all,

A focusing issue is indeed occurring on the Android version of Pix4Dcapture using the Phantom 4 Pro V2.
Thank you all for your feedback about this problem. It will be fixed in the future release but we can not provide any timeline at the moment.

We will communicate on this thread as soon as there are updates.

In the meantime, if you can not make good images acquisition using Pix4Dcapture within your configuration (drone, camera, mobile device), we suggest try any other third-party app that can fit your needs.
Note that Pix4D’s image processing engine supports images that are captured with any third party flight planning application as long as you have sufficient image overlap for your project. so please feel free to fly with any application that fits your needs.

Best.

Hello all,

The focusing issue with P4P V2 has been solved with the release of Ctrl+DJI V1.9.6 application.
Thank you all for your feedback about this problem.

Best,

Well done Gael

I have tried this morning, result under this coment, very good,
Appreciate for pix4d team
