Surface Color Display Inconsistencies

I am having issues with displayed colors on created surfaces. The selected display color often does not display correctly, is completely wrong, or sometimes blanks out and leaves a black hole. The issue is pretty consistent and frustrating when trying to make quality data products. Sometimes it will fix itself- sometimes it will not. I have not been able to find anything that seems to make it better or worse. Re-drawing the surfaces will correct the problem about 80% of the time. But it breaks again each time I open the file. I am Running Version 4.10.0 on a commercial license.

Any input is welcomed, Thanks.

Hello,

When we see display issues, we will often look at your GPU driver. When these become outdated, display problems are common. Try updating your driver to see if it helps. If you like, you can attach your quality report to this post, and we can determine your driver version.

Thanks Mike,

It would appear that it is up to date according to windows.(32.0.15.8092 for an RTX 4000 ada). The driver version date is 8/4/25 which means it has been updated after I started seeing this issue. Quality report attached to verify.

It’s only slightly out of date but it is still a good idea to update. The link below will allow you to download the latest driver for your RTX4000 Ada Generation Laptop GPU:

It is also a good idea to set your high-performance GPU as the default processor. Sometimes Windows can default to the integrated GPU, and this can cause problems. You can follow the link in the article below. The article is for PIX4Dmatic but it is the same for PIX4Dmapper.

Graphics driver has been updated, default GPU is confirmed on the high performance hardware. I am unfortunately I am still facing the same problem.

It seems that sometimes when selecting the vertex or line color, it will briefly use that selection as the surface color. After moving around the model some it will typically revert back to close but inconstant color to the selection.

Another possible issue is if you are using multiple displays. If so, can you make sure Mapper is on your primary display and see if that makes any difference?

I have tried it on all displays, and just on the laptop unhooked from the dock. It did not affect the problem.

Let’s try another option. I’d like you to do a complete uninstall of the program. This includes deleting the appdata and leftover folders in the registry. Sometimes these can become corrupted and cause all sorts of problems. The article below will walk you through the steps:

Doing an un-install, re-install is not as straightforward as it normally would be due to security and IT admin controls- Is there any options to try before that step? It may be worth noting that multiple users in my department are seeing the same issue across different devices.

Thanks

Hi jspink38,

Can you send us some more screenshots of the problem? Can you perhaps draw it on a horizontal surface?

At this point, it will be best if you can open a support ticket so we can work more closely with you.
