Project in use error

When opening certain projects processed in Matic, I get a “Project in use: Please ensure the project is not opened in another instance of Pix4dMatic” error.

Obviously, I restarted the Pc to ensure all instance of Matic were closed and still had the same error. Only response I received from support was to uninstall by doing the following:

Hi Jason,

Thank you for reaching out to Pix4D Technical Support.

Is it safe to assume when trying to open one project, the error message already pops up?

Did you recently upgrade to v1.46.0, and since then this error message has started to show?

Could you please first do a complete uninstall following the steps below?

In the Windows Search, type Add or remove programs .

Scroll to find PIX4Dmatic and click the application.

Click Uninstall .

On the path where PIX4Dmatic was installed (default is C:\Program Files\Pix4Dmatic ), ensure this folder does not exist anymore. If it exists, DELETE this Pix4Dmaticfolder.

In C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\pix4d , ensure the folder Pix4Dmatic does not exist anymore. If it exists, DELETE this Pix4Dmatic folder.

In the Windows Search type regedit and search for the folder stored in the path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pix4D and ensure this folder does not exist anymore. If it exists, DELETE this PIX4Dmatic folder.

Restart the computer.

Issue still persists.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for sharing this issue on the Community.

I believe my second reply was not received by your side.

I will share my second reply here:

Thank you for sharing the .nfo file. It looks like the GPU driver is not the latest version.

Could you update the GPU driver to the latest driver version?

Couldn’t open projects created under 1.46.0 in older version

If the project was created in a newer version, it is not possible to open using an older version. For example, if the project was created with v1.47.1, it is not possible to open the project with v1.46.0.

Other things to check include:

  • Ensure you are not accessing PIX4Dmatic remotely such as via TeamViewer/virtual machine.
  • Ensure everything related to the projects is saved locally (i.e. datasets, project folder, tie point files, etc).
  • Ensure no use of an external drive or a network drive (i.e. Google drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox, etc).

If all of these are ensured, and the issue persists, I believe you also submit another ticket with my colleague, @anastasis.spachos. We will work with the developing team find out what is the issue here with the error message Project in use: Please ensure the project is not opened in another instance of Pix4dMatic.

I am sorry it is causing you inconvenience.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,
Rosana (she/her)
