I am a new user of pix4dcapture and I am trying to make a mission in order to evaluate the pix4d desktop for my applications .My drone is a dji p4 pro and the app (pix4dcapture) is running on a sony z3 android 6.0.1
I tried till now about 8 missions (grid or grid mission for 3d) the problems that I have are the following:
Everything is going well the drone starts the mission finishes the first line and then hangs and just float in the same position while acquires photos. (happened 3 times)
The drone start to go to the initial point but never stops and I have to control it manually in order to take it back. The first time it was about 800m off.(happened twice)
The abort mission does nothing
4.I tried the manual flight, eveything goes well during the acquisition but when the drone comes back the sync is not working and after about 5 minutes an error comes to the screen. One time i couldn’t even find the photos.
The area that I tried to make the missions were different fields without any visible interference.
I have read about pix4d and I am really impressed about the results that someone can obtain but my initial experience is not very encouraging.
Could you please give me some direction to overcome my issues with image acquisition;
Could you check in the Google Play Store that the latest versions of Pix4Dcapture and Ctrl+DJI are installed on your device?
Also check the latest firmware is installed on the drone with the DJI GO 4 app.
Note that synchronizing is not necessary, you can just take the images from the SD card and create a new project with Pix4D Desktop and import them. For more information: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/214516203
Did you ever solve your issue #1 where the UAV completes the first line and then stops and hangs there? We are flying a Phantom 3 Pro using an ASUS tablet, and are experiencing the same issue.
There are several one-time issues that are related to miscommunication between the Pix4Dcapture and the drone. Sometimes the SDK (set of programming tools for software development to interact with the drone hardware) is not responsive and some delays affect the communication, which blocks the continuity of the mission. These are not bugs as they are not reproducible.
In that case, the only option is to restart from scratch. We recommend to have installed the latest apps and firmware as mentioned above. Additionally, you should make sure DJI GO (4) is not running in the background (force stop) when Pix4Dcapture is being used.
I had exact the same problem with two DJI Mavic Pro’s and the Pix4DCapture app. One with Samsung Galaxy s4 and one with S7 edge.
The first 3 or 4 stripes are ok and than Pix4D Capture hangs on and actualize after 2 minutes or later. Can still hear the click from the camera but no check the real location of the drone. Thats realy dangerous. Please locate this problem and solve it.
This problem appears with all drones not only with the phantom. Had also the same problem to get a connection wit ctrl+dji. After any restarts of the controller it works, but sometimes not and a error message appears. Hope we get a fast answer from you (Pix4D Support)
Thank you for your feedback, we understand that the issue encountered can be problematic but as Julie explained in a previous post there are several one-time issues that are related to miscommunication between the Pix4Dcapture and the drone. Sometimes the SDK (set of programming tools for software development to interact with the drone hardware) is not responsive and some delays affect the communication, which blocks the continuity of the mission. It cannot be considered as bugs as it is not reproducible.
In the first place, we recommend the following procedures in case of unexpected behavior of the drone:
Make sure to run the latest versions of the drone Firmware, DJI Go 4, Pix4Dcapture.
Restart the mission from scratch. To do so, close and force quit the app, disconnect the mobile device, turn off the remote controller and the drone.
Keep in Mind that Pix4Dcapture is acting as a third-party application so if an unexpected behavior happens during the flight you will always have the possibility to take back manual control of the drone by:
Changing flight modes
Moving the controller’s joysticks.
Is it possible for you to send us the logs (with the day and time when you encountered the issue) so that we can analyze them?
Also how often did you encounter this behavior? Is it regular or random?
You are mentioning an error message displayed, what is it exactly?
