"Invalid or Unsupported Image File" when trying to open tiff in AutoCad 2017

I have always had issues with large image files. This is unfortunate because most engineering companies are using this software to add into Autodesk. On top of costing $350 a month to use. Here is the best option I’ve found without using a third party software.

  1. In Civil 3D or AutoCad Map. Set coordinate of drawing on the tab Settings (right click on drawing name). Preferably whatever your export coordinates you selected in Pix4D. Use MAPIINSERT command and go into the “tiles” folder under 2_mosaic. I would suggest loading images in groups, or 10 at a time. Selecting all images and inserting typically creates an error. After this you can clip images if needed and don’t forget to set your IMAGEFRAME to <0>.
