Dedicated Computer Processing Hardware or in the Cloud

How feasible is it to be running your software in the cloud? Without a good machine that could be processing map images for hours and hours every day.

I have only a MacBook Pro 13"… highly doubt it’s powerful enough to run the maps alone… plus I have other work to be doing on it.

Is it necessary to have a dedicated desktop machine to create effective maps?

You can always try a hybrid approach. Setup the project on your laptop and Process Step 1. If you’re satisfied with the results in the quality report, then you can upload the project to Pix4D cloud to finish processing. Unless you have giant projects with thousands of photos, this should work ok.

good one @Andrew_Milanes

Cloud uses Linux, so you will not be able to open the projects in Mac after processing with cloud due to the version incompatibility. We do not develop Mapper for Mac anymore, the last version was 3.0 (Beta macOS version of Pix4Dmapper 3.0) whereas the latest Pix4D version is 4.5.

Also, keep in mind there is a limit for cloud processing. See here: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/215858503-Cloud-general-questions#label0
