[Android Beta] - Phantom 3 Professional / Advanced and Inspire 1

I think this forum is dead. Havent had a reply from pix4d in a while and the beta 2.0.3 has not been released yet.

Hi,

when I plan a Grid Mission for the Inspire, the upload to start the Mission always failed. On the checklist every step is green.

Pix4d can you please provide better support for your beta tetsers… thanks. Will the latest firmware from dji work with the capture app?

We haven’t had a reply from Jonas for 11 days now.
Is there any other forum where we can get support as beta testers?
Or is this the only one?

Ya this a bit stupid. We are using our own copters and risking them to test there product and provide feedback for free and they can’t even talk to us on here. I may be switching to drone deploy

Our developers are on the way to DJI to fix with their developres remaining issues on the Phanton and Inspire SDK.
We hope to tell you more by the end of next week.

Dear Beta Testers,
Thank you all for testing our app for your comments! We are sorry for keeping you in the dark lately.

The release of the version 2.0.3 was unfortunately delayed and it is not yet available. This technology is very sensitive and we ran into unexpected issues with the integration of the firmware 1.3. Now we will be moving to integrating the beta firmware 1.4 since it has been released recently.

However, this might take some time, since as Christoph mentioned, our developers are meeting with DJI this week to see how we can further improve our app and facilitate future firmware integration. This meeting will help us to work more efficiently with DJI.

We will keep you updated!

Regards,

PD4X:

With your post today are you advising not to run any additional testing on P3P or I1 until which time you figure out how to code to the new firmware? I’m concerned that you have not had this open dialog with DJI before this event with new firmware release. On your website along with DJI the new Mesh software says it works will all DJI Platfroms, but in reality it works only with P2 P2+v3.

As someone stated earlier, we are putting our equipment out to beta for your company. This is not a desktop version or app that has no potential end result in crash, damage, or injury. This is a using our devices to accomplish a task without crashing, flying off or making the next headline. You software is great, but at least give updates and respond to queries being presented in your forum.

This is Oliver, co-founder of Pix4D. A quick note to mention that we had to moderate a few misleadings comments by fake users (Chase Gray, Dan Safety) from another company working with DJI’s SDK.

I’d like to be very honest about it: the DJI sdk is broken by DJI, and thus any capture app (except DJI Pilot app) are momentarily broken. We are working very closely with DJI, and our capture app lead developpers (Jonas and Alexis) are this week in DJI’s office for a hackaton to fix DJI’s SDK.

In the meanwhile, please update your drone to the latest firmware (to fix the geotagging issue), and use the DJI Pilot app to take the pictures, trying to follow a grid flight plan. Take the images from the SDcard and process them using Pix4Dmapper and you will get great results.

In parallel to that, we have another team that has been working hard adding exciting new features to the capture app, but we will unveil them only once the P3 & I1 will work flawlessly.

Best regards,
Olivier Kung, Pix4D co-founder

Thank you for the update Oliver. Hopefully DJI can get this sorted out quickly.

Thank you Oliver. I will note that I am on the latest DJI firmware and have been using the capture app with no issue (P3 Pro). I just verify that the DJI Pilot app is not running and the app performs as it should. The camera feature doesn’t work at the moment, so I can only plan flights with the map, but I have flown 4 or 5 in the past 3 days and have had no problem.

I have the same issue as @Marco on P3P, app version 2.0.2 and firmware 1.4.1:
when press button for take off (3 second) your app say . “failed to upload grounstation task to drone”.
I tried restarting the mission multiple times but didn’t work
Any ideas?

@Jorge Godoy - I am having the same issue.

@ Jorge and Kevin: The firmware 1.4.1 is only compatible with the latest DJI SDK 2.3 which are not yet supported by our app. The firmware 1.4.1 and the SDK 2.3 will be supported in the next beta, version 2.0.3.

Our developers are working on that and as mentioned above they are meeting with DJI this week to also help fixing some bugs in the SDK.

Unfortunately if you have firmware 1.4.1 installed you have to wait for the version 2.0.3 to use our application.

In the meanwhile, to capture images you can use the DJI GO application. The DJI application is not using the SDK so it should work with the firmware 1.4.1.

Regards,

Thanks for the feedback,

Are you able to rollback the P3P to v1.3.20?

Best,

@ Kevin: Unfortunately it is not possible to downgrade the firmware version of the drone.
We hope that we will soon be able to release the next beta version so that the beta can be used again by everyone!

Hi Pix4d Team

Can I please ask you to implement a lower flight altitude of about 10 meters?
With 30 the accuracy of the mesh model for car crash sites even with high overlap is not good enough.

Mixing Phantom 3 images from a capture flight from 30 meters (90°) and a manual DJI Go flight with 7 meters (60°) did not solve the issue but has created a ghost rendering underneath the correct rendering.

Please see support case #12923 for more details.

Thank you.
Martin

@ Martin: Thank you for your suggestion we have passed it to our product management team so that they can see for a future version of the app.
To successfully process the 2 datasets you should to create 2 sub projects and merge them. Create 2 sub projects, one with the images at 30m, another with the images at 7m:

  1. Use the p4d project file created by the app or create sub project A (images at 30m).
  2. Process step 1.
  3. Add 5-10 Manual tie points, for example, pp1, pp2, pp3, pp4, pp5…
  4. Mark each Manual tie point in at least 3 images.
  5. Reoptimize.
  6. Create sub project B (images at 7m).
  7. If using the p4d file created by the app, remove the geolocation of the images. With the Phantom 3, the altitude in the EXIF of the images is the altitude above the ground, whereas with our app, it is the absolute altitude. It might give you some problems if you do not remove the geolocation. To remove the geolocation information: click on Clear in the Image Properties Editor under Geolocation and Orientation. https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202557569
  8. Process step 1.
  9. Create the same 5 -10 Manual tie points created in the sub project A and give them the same names as in the sub project A (pp1, pp2, pp3, pp4, pp5…)
  10. Mark each Manual tie point in at least 3 images.
  11. Reoptimize.
  12. Merge the projects by creating a new project: the software will ask if the Manual tie points with the same names are the same tie points, click YES and once is processed.
  13. If you have GCPs, add them, mark them and reoptimize.
  14. Process the steps 2 and 3 if desired.

Thank you Pix4D

While upgrading the firmware of the phantom RC, something went wrong and the RC is now in a frozen state. Beeping sound and red flashing light. Any attempts to install different versions just fail as it is not even reading the files anymore.
Has anyone a magic trick to recover the RC?

Thanks
