[Android Beta] - Phantom 3 Professional / Advanced and Inspire 1

version app 2.02 , version SDK firmware on Phantom 3 Pro P3X_FW_V01.01.1007

@naz naz: I believe that DJI Pilots is not using the SDK, because they can do things that we can’t. If DroneDeploy has the same problem, then it might be because of the firmware, indeed! 2.0.3 will be released this week!
@Marco: And did you select the right drone (in the upper right corner of the map)? It should never talk about Wi-Fi if you don’t select “P2V”, actually =/.

thank’s you Now comunication is ok, … another problem , when press button for take off (3 second) your app say . “failed to upload grounstation task to drone”

@Marco: I experience that sometimes, but simply starting the mission again works for me. What about you?

Hello all,
We successfully tested the Capture app today using a Samsung Galaxy S5 as our device with a Phantom 3 Advanced. The images will not upload to the phone however. The project file and the mission data folder will come over but no photos. You have to take the photos off the Phantom SD card and put them in the folder manually. Overall things were a success.

@Andrew: Glad you could use your Phantom 3 Advanced! For now, copying the pictures from the drone to the phone is a problem, so you did the right thing: Take the project file on the phone, and use the images from the SD card! You can disable the automatic synchronization in the settings, for convenience.

Firmware version 1.3.0.00 for the Inspire 1 was released yesterday with SDK support. Has this been tested with the current Andriod app?

Phantom 3 Professional Firmware v1.3.20 has been released yesterday.

Are we supposed to install this?

Thanks,

Hi, I tested 2.0.2 on v1.3.20

  • amount of jpg’s listed in .p4d file and amount of recorded pictures do not match
  • angle in .p4d is listed with 50° but real angle had been 90° which correlates now with the setting the capture app
  • pressing the start button for 3 seconds seems to be a difficult task on my Nexus 9
  • Grid - copter position is still limited to 150 meters even if one corner of the grid actually ‘touches’ the start position

Hello!
I see that the Phantom 3 firmware version available on the Developer website and described in the above instructions is V01.01.1007, while the firmware version on the general DJI site (open to all) is now newer: V01.03.0020.

I actually already have V01.03.0020 installed, but it doesn’t seem to connect well with the Pix4D app (I have version 2.0.2) — I see aircraft battery status and other stats, but for example the location is not correct (shows me somewhere in the Midwest I think?).

What should I do?

Thanks!
Einat

Hi
I keep getting bad camera optimization in the quality report. anywhere from 17-80%. I’m flying a P3a. could this be a faulty camera or a bug in the capture app?

Joel.

Hi, I have a 3 Phantom 3.

I tried to change the controller firmware from 1.2.8 to 1.1.1007.

The controller refused to do it, and the text file that it generated said the version is identical to or older than the current firmware.
(But the aircraft itself accepted the new firmware.)

Does anyone have the same problem?

Thanks

It did the same thing to me and wasn’t an issue. I just flew it with only the drone updated.

Thanks Justin.
However, I’d prefer to have the same firmware running on both the aircraft and the controller.
That’s what is recommended, and probably for good reason!
Does anyone have a suggestion?
Or is it a case of waiting for the next update and trying that?

I think you need to look at the relative difference between initial and final focal length issue. I have over 10 flights with the pix4d capture app and all of the have really high percentages. Like 80% to 240%. I have done the same flights manually flying and using a different app and the relative difference between initial and final focal length have been under 1%. I processed them all the same way with the same settings. The only real difference between the flights is when I manually fly and when the other app is in control the UAV always goes in the forward direction and with the pix4d app the UAV stays facing one direction the entire flight. I am using the inspire 1 just in case you want to know.

I am having some issues with Camera Optimization as well. I’m not sure that the right camera model is being used in the initial processing and I am having trouble determining which model is on the Phantom 3 Advanced. Its bringing in the FC300S_3.6_4000x3000. I see the camera says its a 2.8. My orthmosaics are coming out really funky, I think this may have something to do with it but not sure. Anyone know exactly which model camera this is? DJI says its a Sony EXMOR 1/2.3" but I don’t have that as an option in the camera models list. I am also experiencing the aircraft only facing one direction as it flys but it should be fine as the camera is nadir. Thanks for any help anyone has.

@ Jonas
I flew 2 missions today, both with about 75 images only to realize that all had been taken with ISO 1600 which means they are totally white.
So that means, that Capture app takes the last camera settings that have been used within an other app like DJI Pilot. That also explains why some testers see extremely dark pictures.

now is ok, thank you

@Jonas

When should we expect the next version of the beta capture app?

@ Jonas and team
Is anyone aware of a modified Phantom 3 that takes infrared and/or NIR images?
NDVI analysis for agricultural purposes or securing of evidence (car-, train, airplane- accidences) at night would be of interest.
