Hi Brad!
A fixed focal length optics well yelled far better results.
I have not tried the Z30 sensor but was able to use other variable optics in the pass with ok results.
Photogrammetry needs vary stable optics and sensor plane, the slightest inconsistency may produce large negative results.
I cannot map with the Zenmuse z30. I use it with Matrice 210 RTK V2 and DJI Pilot. Can you help with the parameters? Can you share screenshots if possible?
Best,
Thank you for reaching out to us. Pix4D is camera agnostic which means it can process images from any camera, even that is not there in our database. The software will read the camera parameters from the exif of the images. You just need to check the focal length and pixel size are correct. Just click on estimate from EXIF. If Pix4D throws a warning saying it couldn’t find the focal length and pixel size in EXIF, it will auto-fill some random numbers. You will then need to reach out to DJI for these values. But I think these values are already in the EXIF and you shouldn’t have a problem processing. The other parameters will always be okay, you do not need to edit that, it is being read from the EXIF. (the screenshot below is a different camera, this is just for your reference)
However, after you process step 1, make sure that the camera optimization is good (the difference between initial and optimized parameters must be close to 5%). If the difference is more, you will have have to get a good dataset and calibrate your camera.
You can then save it and later use it for other projects. You can have a look at this for the workflow: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/206065716-How-to-calibrate-a-Perspective-Lens-Camera. It tells you the properties of a good dataset that must be used for calibrating the camera and then saving the parameters in the database.
You do not use z30 for mapping. You should use zenmuse x4s for that. Why try to map with 2.1mpx sensor?
