Use indices to identify plant?

Hi all,

is it possible to use any of the included indices to actually identify the type of crop being imaged? For example, wheat will reflect light differently to rape, so is there something that will tell me what the crop is based on the reflectence?

Hi,

Thanks for bringing up this topic. For identifying crops you will have to identify each reflectance “footprint” for every crop with know datasets. This could be done with some image classification with Machine Learning techniques. Unfortunately is not possible with PIX4Dfields nowadays.
I could recommend watching weedNet: Dense Semantic Weed Classification Using Multispectral Images and MAV for Smart Farming - YouTube, there is lot of material on the internet, also recommend this course https://www.udemy.com/course/machine-learning-in-gis-and-remote-sensing-5-courses-in-1/
