I’ve noticed that one of my project’s “processing” folder was around 59 GB. After checking other projects, I realized these processing folders are taking up a lot of space in my desktop, causing me to run out of space. Is it ok to delete these once processing and exporting is over? If I were to delete them, would I need to re-process everything again? The space these folders take up is insanely large compared to the photos and exports. An example of just one of the subfolders within the processing folder is attached.
I ran out of space on a new drive and noticed the same thing. I had to move a bunch of stuff off it and clean up some exports I no longer needed to finish up my last processing session. I need to buy a huge external HD to move older sets to in order to keep going.
I have the same issue. I bought 4TB SSD and that is not enough. They need to figure out a way to utilize the GPU to the maximum extent and disk storage issue.
Hello!
The processing folder is the actual content of the project. Removing the folder or files from it will result in the project data loss and might corrupt the whole project.
There are several options to reduce the project size:
- Using smaller values for image scale when generating dense point clouds and larger resolution values for DSM
- Deleting processing results that are not needed anymore from the content panel. Please note that these items will need to be regenerated if required later
Let me know if this helps
Kind regards,
Alexey
@alexey.gribovskiy can you please describe your second point in more detail? Do you have some screenshots where we have to click for that? Can’t find it, sorry
Hello,
The data can be deleted from the content panel, e.g., dense point cloud, dsm and orthomosaic can be removed as shown on the screenshots below.
Hope it helps.
Kind regards,
Alexey
Thanks, I understand now. But that’s not quite what I was looking for. I was hoping to remove intermediate calculation steps to save storage space — without deleting any previously computed results. Thanks anyway!
