I recently processed aerial images captured using an RTK-enabled DJI Mavic 3M. The site is a restored beach in Half Moon Bay, CA, with some of the aerial images taken over the upland/beach areas and some taken over the water. After bringing the combined orthomosaic into ArcGIS Pro, some of the tiles appear to be missing compared to the image of the ortho shown in the quality report. The missing tiles are mostly concentrated over the water. This issue has cropped up multiple times for this site, though I’ve only included pictures/info for the latest drone flight.
What could be causing this issue? Is it a processing error? I’ve read some of the other threads related to this problem and there doesn’t seem to be a consensus. I took a look at some of the individual mosaic tiles and many of them seem to have small file sizes (<100 kb). I do recognize that there are a lot of uncalibrated cameras over the water, which makes sense since the waves crashing on the beach could make photo stitching difficult. However, the orthomosaic that shows up in ArcGIS Pro should match the one displayed in the quality report, unless I’m mistaken.
I’ve included an image of the ortho, Pix4D log, and quality report. Thanks for the help!
