Overcast versus sunny?

I am finding that much of my flying in my new homeland is done with fluffy (Cumulus Nimbus?) clouds. Sometimes there is a lot of space between clouds and sometimes, like today they are packed much more closely together. On occasion I can see cloud tracks across the field

My question is how to inform this wonderful software to properlyprocess my multi spectral imagery? is this overcast or sunny?

-Mike

HI Mike,

It’s neither and to be clear that is the worst condition for Multi-Spectral data acquisition. You could select clear sky or nothing. In any case the data will have most likely artifacts.

Very little clear sky in the last month. It’s thunderstorm season / Tornado season, and the sky is full of activity. It just is what it is.

Is “overcast” considered a solid cloud deck?

-Mike

Yes overcast is considered solid layer covering the sun and means complete indirect scattered light, it’s considered the best condition for mapping.

Best quotes: "Sunshine lifts the mood but overcast skies spark deep thoughts.

Sunny is great for warmth and light, while overcast keeps things cool and calm. Depends on your mood!

Overcast means cloudy; sunny means clear with sunshine.
