I was wondering for large data sets what is the performance difference when using a mac studio ultra and a widows machine with a 14900k and a 4090. Is it a big enough difference to chose one or the other? The data sets are around 2000 acres taken with a DJI Zenmuse L2. Thanks.
Hello @ndesho2
Please note that since we have only recently (firstly introduced in version 1.64) added native ARM application support, we are in the process of gathering more data and benchmarking macOS and Windows systems. That being said, in an original benchmarking project we noticed that Windows was 20% faster in total processing time compared to macOS with a native ARM processor. Be aware that this benchmark was completed with the 1.63 version of PIX4Dmatic so we expect better performance in the next benchmark.
As a general note, when deciding between a Windows or Mac computer, the final decision really comes down to your personal needs and preferences. It’s important to keep in mind that this can vary depending on factors like the size of your projects, the resolution of images you’re working with, and the specific specs of each computer—such as available RAM, processor speed, and graphics capability.
Ultimately, it’s crucial to consider all these factors together and weigh them against your own workflow and budget.
Best regards,
