For large datasets, smart grid is the best tool for getting an optimized TIN.
But I noticed it needs some improvement on the filtering and triangulation.
It might add a dozens of points to represent some unimportant small hole, but add just 5 or soo points in a big parking lot and missing the curbs completly in the process.
Specially a long roads, it always fails to get the curbs right and add just some points here and there. While some hole or sump in a garden nearby gets detaild to the maximum.
I’ve run some side by side tests with the same dataset on Matic and DJI Modify. At the end, Modify delievered something in one click that I could only get in Matic if I manualy draw a bunch of polylines along the curbs and gutters for later use in TIN processing.
The tests were performed with the same pointcloud and same ground points.
This means dozens of extra hours.
