The ground extracion tool and the input option today just can’t get it right, specially for infrastructure projects.
When dealing with a roadway with side slopes and berms, it fails to correctly classify the ground.
I belive as its set up, the variables just can’t represent the berms (flat and small) and slopes (large and steep) together.
Or everything is terrain or everything is non terrain (with some berms in between). And the problem is that this has big effects on the rest of the site.
We ended up doing classification by intaraction and deleting unwanted points along the way. The goal is to only have ground points active, all the rest gets desabled, then run a grid to get the TIN.
When trying out DJI Modify and Greenvaley LiDAR360, both got great results with just one run. The path they are taking seams to be more accurate when trying to sort out complex point clouds.
