Eporting Data from Pix4D Cloud (Zip File)

There is a major issue that needs to be addressed immediately with Pix4Dcloud. When downloading/exporting the data from Pix4Dcloud, many of the files have invalid characters included in the file names (colons for instance). When unzipping the files to put them on to my machine, I have to skip these files which include invalid characters. So at that point, I cannot extract all the data from Pix4Dcloud.

Hi Justin,

Please could you post a screenshot of the error message if you have one?

From what you describe, it may be related to the software you use to unzip the files. I would recommend you to try 7-zip or any other software.

Please let us know if the issue gets solved.

Have a very nice day!

I’m using File Explorer, which is what everyone uses if you have a windows computer.

I don’t have the error message, but it says it can’t unzip specific files and that is because it has characters that are not allowed in file names. Similar to below. And a lot of the file names exported have a colon because of the time stamp.

Hi,

We are very sorry for this inconvenience.
This issue only happens with File Explorer for this reason; we recommend using 7-zip.
We already advised about this issue in the following support article: Download/Export - PIX4Dcloud

Did you try to unzip these files with the suggested software? Does the issue persist?

Please let us know if the issue gets solved.

Have a very nice day!

Best regards

I understand I can download a third party software to do this and I’m sure it works fine.

But what percentage of your clients do you think use Windows? I would assume it is a high majority. I think this is something your team should look further in to because it effects most of your clients. Downloading a third party software to get my data is not an efficient workflow.
