In the past, the live distances and areas were displayed with the icon “~”. That meant that it was an approximation and the most precise measurement was displayed in the rigth panel.
From August 4th, 2022, that has been improved and now, the precise distance and area is allways displayed in the editor and will always be the same as the one displayed in the right panel:
