Beta OS X version of Pix4Dmapper 2.0

Hello all,

We would like to kindly ask you to post the App related comments to the App sections of the Forum so as to organize the Forum better and make the follow-up easier for new OS X and App users.

As some of you have noticed, the map of the Map View is tiled. We are already working on fixing this issue. Also, regarding the “Previous Project” list in the Welcome page, the dedicated developers is looking into it and we will get back to you soon.

@Vertical Aspect: It is possible to drag and drop las point clouds in the rayCloud just like in the Windows version.

@Mike: We are working on improving the Project Menu in the next version. You will be able to load and close projects without closing Pix4Dmapper.

Best regards,

Here is the screenshot of the today trial work.

Can you tell me why consecutive points 17-18 and 28-29 aren’t aligned with 7-8 points?

Another important question.

As an Apple user I don’t have right click and left click like in Windows : I use a magic mouse Apple and is very difficult to set points on polylines or animation trajectories.

Sometimes during the draw of a polyline, when I try to recognize points on the pictures shown on right, this don’t happen or another point out of view appears. Why?

Is the ability to output 3D PDF there yet?

@ Antonio: Can you please explain in more detail the issue with the consecutive points? Do you refer to images or GCPs? What would you expect to see in the Map View?

Regarding the magic mouse, you can right click with Control + one finger on the smart mouse to terminate a polygon or set a waypoint for the video animation. You can hold down Shift + move the mouse to rotate the model.

For step by step instructions on how to edit an object in the rayCloud: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202560609

If the reprojection of the point to the images is not correct, this implies that the reconstruction may not be good. In this case, you should add manual tie points are reoptimize the project to improve the reconstruction, before measuring objects in the rayCloud.

@Tom: For the time being, it is not possible to generate the 3D PDF on the OS X version.

Best regards,

Thanks for your kind answer, first.

Regarding the problem with the points, I’ve noticed that in the screenshot the points number 7-8-17-18-28-29 aren’t aligned, I suppose because   my Phantom 2 Vision Plus 3.0 has flown just like you see in the screenshot. But the question is does it depend from my Phantom or from Pix4d capture?

Unfortunately I’m sick in bed with high fever and so I’m unable to work.

Can you kindly extend the trial period, due to the program is in beta version and there are still some problems to solve?

Kind regards

Version 2.0.89 Satellite images are broken for background in Map View. The road map works fine.

@Support

  • @Vertical Aspect: It is possible to drag and drop las point clouds in the rayCloud just like in the Windows version.

I have tried this multiple times with different files and it does not work on my machine.

A question, if I can.

What happens if the area of interest is bigger than 10.000 square meters? Is possibile make different projects and ho in them in a unique one?

As an Apple user I use to work in fullscren mode (I own an Apple Thunderbolt Display-27 inches flat-panel).

Is it possible with Pix4d Mapper OS X version?

p.s.: did you solve the problems prospected?

The waypoint’s selection doesn’t work: they are fixed “random”, without any control just like in screenshot attached were I really don’t now how the waipoints of second and third trajectories have been choosen: help us.

I’m able to open .p4d files created using the Windows version, however the cameras, rays, point clouds, and triangles are not showing up - all I get is any objects that were created in the original file, i.e. orthoplanes, polylines etc. I was prompted to select the filepath to the original jpeg photos, so I’m not sure if this is an issue of moving the files to my Mac (so items are in a different filepath location), or if this is an issue of compatibility between .p4d files created in Windows vs. Mac versions.

Do we know if pix4d are doing any work on improving the OSX version? Have anything changed since the Beta launch?

@tom Good question.

I’m waiting for the solution for the fragmented satellite image in the main screen and step by step instructions about some procedures for Mac users (who don’t have right and left click).

Yes. They seem to have deserted us I’m afraid.

@All: We are still working on the OS X version and any improvement or bug fix will be included in the current Pix4Dmapper production version, which currently is v. 2.0.89 and you can find it here: https://mapper.pix4d.com/download/mapper/dmg/

Also, we have noticed that the annotation tool is not working properly in the beta version, so we would recommend you not to use it for the moment. Keep posted for updates.

@Antonio:

  1. Regarding the issue with the point numbers, we think it is better if you share the project with us so that we better understand the issue.
Could you please share the p4d file and the dataset with us? For step by step instructions on how to upload the project, please check: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202558589
Could you also share a screenshot that would explain the issue better? You could, for example, label the points 1-8-17-18 etc. to the screenshot to better understand the issue. You can share this file with us at support@pix4d.com.

  2. It is possible to split big projects and merge them. To do so:

  3. Run Step 1 for each sub project.

  4. Mark at least 3 common manual tie points on each sub project and reoptimize.

  5. Make sure that these manual tie points share the same name in both sub projects.
It is recommended to mark at least 5 MTPs well distributed in the common area.
For more information, please check: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/entries/57731727-

  6. Merge the sub projects. For more information, please check: [https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/entries/27053947

](/entries/27053947)
2. Regarding the video animation, you can right click on the Video Animation on the left Sidebar by clicking using two fingers on the trackpad and select New Video Animation Trajectory. Then, if you choose to set the waypoints from user recorded views, you can zoom in and out in the model by moving two fingers on the tackpad and you can rotate the model using Shift and clicking on the trackpad. When you want to select a waypoint, just click Record Trajectory on the New Video Animation Trajectory wizard that should already be open.

@ Vertical Aspect Support:

  1. We are aware of the issue with the Map View and we are working on fixing it.
  2. You are right, dragging and dropping an external point cloud in the rayCloud does not work for the moment. We apologize about the misunderstanding and we will look into it.

@Kristen: The p4d file generated in Windows should be compatible with the OS X version. Did you also move the results folder to the OS X version?

 Best regards,

That’s great to hear…thanks.

I must have overlooked moving the results folder in addition to the photos. Thanks!

I’ve uploaded the project on Pix4D Cloud just now, as the attached screenshot shows. Let me know if you need other.
An important question: Pix4DMapper pro is in beta version, isn’t it?
But how can collaborate with you if my trial period expired and there are bugs to correct, some kwon and others unknown?

Give me an answer as soon as possible. Best regards.

@Antonio: We have downloaded and processed the project Mission_00005_half and here you can see a screenshot of the point cloud generated. Could you please give us more details on the issue you refer to. Maybe a screenshot would be useful.

What we noticed is that you have uploaded the half resolution images from the App (2304X1728). This is useful if you want to generate a 3D Mesh quickly and visualize the results in the phone. However, if you want to achieve accuracy, we would recommend you to process the full resolution images that you can find in the SD card or in the phone. @Pix4D Support

Perfect, the model is the same I see on my Thunderbolt 27" when I work with Pix4DMapper Explorer on my Mac Pro, not more with pro version due to the trial expired too soon without learning a lot of features and possibilities.
The matter is: when I see the points number 6-7 and then 17-18 and 28-29 the first two are not aligned with the others, as you can see in the screenshot attached.
I don’t know if it depends by Pix4D Capture or by a my Phantom 2 vision plus failure or mistake

P.S.; thanks for suggestioni about full/half: I’ve uploaded another project (Mission_00003) in full version. May I change half version in full version after upload? If yes, how?
