XML file validation failed with XSD and e0400b

Hi, I processed a project with control points a few days ago.

When I opened that project in version 4.1.10, the following errors happened:

[2017.11.08 08:38:59][29%RAM][100%CPU][Error]: XML file validation failed with XSD: C:/Program Files/Pix4Dmapper/resources/xsd/17/pix4d.xsd

[2017.11.08 08:38:59][29%RAM][100%CPU][Error]: Error e0400b: Cannot open project E:/projectos/104_silves/p4d/2017_10_26_104_sd_80_80.p4d. Invalid format.

I submitted a support request 2 days ago but the only thing they say is that I cannot process a project with one version and open it with a previous version, which I didn’t.

Can anyone help?

Hi Alexandre,

It is actually related to the upgrade of the project when going from an old version of the software to the most recent.
Some version jump are too big and requires to manual adjust the .p4d file so that it can be opened.

Please find the procedure below to solve the problem.

  1. Double click the .p4d file to open it with the latest version.
  2. Check the line in the .p4d file where the error is detected, in this case line 35.

  1. Download and install the free app Notepad++: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/.
  2. Open the .p4d file with Notepad++ and jump to the corresponding line.
  3. Replace Classic with Ceres:

  1. Save the edited .p4d file.

It should solve the problem :).
