Time to map parcel with low resolution output

Hi Greg,

If you know the resolution on the ground or the Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) you would like to have (6" to 12"), as well as which camera will be used. It is possible to calculate the height at which the images should be taken, more here: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202557469

Then, to achieve a certain overlap between the images at the desired GSD, and taking into account the speed at which the drone is flying, it is possible to calculate the time interval between each image. More here:

The duration of the mission can be calculated based on the speed of the drone, the flight plan and the size of the area. For example, if you have a grid flight plan and you know the size of the area, you can know the length of each line in the flight plan, and based on the speed of the drone you have chosen, you can calculate the time it will take to fly the mission. For larger areas, the autonomy of the drone (battery time) should be taken into account, it could be that the battery has to be changed which would add time to the mission.

Depending on the drone you have, Pix4Dcapture, our flight planning app, might be interesting for you. More here: https://community.pix4d.com/t/4464
