Survey like a boss 💪

A lot of creative entries here! makes mine look a bit boring…

Yes the project is a new residential development, and we have already completed stage 1. Stage 2 is currently underway.

I use 13 GCPs each time i fly the site, most of which are permanent marks so i don’t have to place them each flight.

I have been getting very accurate and consistent results each week, and it is making it easy to keep track of the earthworks!

GCPs were located using an RTK GPS rover with an on site GPS base station.

I am currently processing the job on the cloud as i had previously processed on desktop and uploaded the results…

The deadline passed already…

The challenge is over and the jury is now evaluating all the projects carefully. The winners will be announced on the 21st March, so stay tuned!

I can already say that you have all made a fabulous work. The variety of projects and creativity you have shown blew me away. It will be tough to select the winners!

Below I will address your latest comments:

@Rafal Pawlowski: You have only uploaded the results, but have not processed the project on the Cloud. You would have needed to either upload the images through the Cloud frontend or to upload a project from Pix4D Desktop to process everything on the Cloud.

@Julien Lieb: Very nice project! I read the story you told before editing your comment, exciting journey to acquire the dataset!

@Daniel Pratt: Glad to hear you could use the DJI Matrice 200 with Pix4Dcapture. :slight_smile: Feel free to create a new post in “image acquisition” regarding the geotagging issue. As for the “pending approval”, it is due to some filters we have to avoid spam, no worries though, the submission is accepted.

@Ryan Lynch: Nice to see the evolution!

@John Wolcott: Wow! Blown away. The orthomosaic was too heavy for the Cloud to display, I’m working on a fix now so that you have it on your project. There will be no penalty for that as it is a problem on our side. Well done!

@Adam: Your place? Looks great!

@GeoDrone Survey: Submission right on the clock at 23:59, well done! Very interesting project as well, thanks for explaining the story behind it.

@vincent soulier: sorry, the submission is too late and I cannot find the Pix4D logo in the project. Please make an annotation so that we can find it more easily. Thanks!

@Brendan Lawrence: Thanks for explaining the background story of the project and sharing the link. Unfortunately, it is after the deadline, so I cannot count it as valid submission. Hope you understand.

@Pierangelo,

I edit my post because I prefer leaving my survey to the posterity, than this crazy journey wich does not reflect my everyday way of working.

I think the participants had the story, this is the most important!

A reminder on how the projects were evaluated: "The ranking for this challenge is defined based on a quantitative and a qualitative criteria. The submissions will be ranked for each criteria, both rankings will be added to define the winners. PS: Bonus points for creative ways to add Pix4D in the project impact the ranking of the qualitative criteria."

All three projects have a very high score on the quantitative criteria of the challenge, which made them top contenders. The quality of the DSM and Orthomosaic of all three were appreciated based on the terrain they have chosen. Filip and Jaakko also got bonus points for their Pix4D logos. A few comments from the jury:

@Filip: “Well done! The quality of the edges is terrific! I also liked the landmark annotations on the 3D Model viewer. I feel like I have been there!”, “Very nice proposition, with very good image quality, and capture conditions, if we want to be very picky, there are some very little over-exposition on some areas. It also reminds us (the developers) that a sharpening filter would enhance orthomosaic quality, and would be a nice feature ;)”

@Jaakko: “Well done! It is impressive how this white scene gave such good results!”, “Though an unusual project, from our point of view, it is very well executed, both for the image quality (no over-exposition, or hot-spot, which may be tricky with snow) and resolution, as well as the creative touch on the logo.The DSM could have been a bit better on the roof, using planar constraints. But in the end, a very nice project!”

@Joseph: “Creative and funny project, with very good RMS errors which made the difference!”, “Very creative model! The image quality could have been better, but you made me smile!”

Congratulations! Have fun with your new Apple iPad mini 4. :slight_smile:

In addition to these, the jury decided to create a new category for  Most Creative Maps  to reward the submissions from:

You both win a Pix4D certification access! Well done!

Once more, there were participants from all over the world sharing their projects. Personally, I really liked the spirit of this challenge where people share their stories and even help each other and discuss their projects. There was also clearly some fun involved! The quality of the submissions made the choice of the winners very tough, so good job everyone!

For reference, please find all remaining submissions of the challenge below:

PS: Goodies will be sent to the 10 first participants to submit their project as promised!
