Reconstruct models with different zoom levels photos

Hello,

I will be doing some drone photography of a steel lattice tower using a Matrice 300 drone with a ZH20 camera. I plan to take pictures by zooming in according to my needs.

My question is: can PIX4D reconstruct a model from a combination of photos taken at different zoom levels?

I found some information that suggests keeping the zoom stable is recommended. Is there any issue with reconstructing a model using photos with varying zoom levels?"

Note: So far I have used PIX4D and reconstructed the steel tower model well using photos from DJI Phantom 4 or Mavic 3 drone, which when taking photos did not use the zoom feature and so far there have been no problems.

However, in this case, we need to use zoom because the location does not allow us to take photos at close range (it is not possible to take close-up photos). We plan to use a Matrice 300 with an HT20 camera, which has a 20X zoom, so that photos can be taken from a distance without reducing the quality.

Regards,
Doni

No.

When you zoom you change the focal length Pix4D needs to calculate the camera’s interal parameters.

If you tried to use photos with the same zoom level, this could work, but then Pix4D’s camera calibration model would be incorrect. But you could try to make your own camera calibration file, but that takes time and effort.
