Hi, I have installed PIx4D capture on a crystalsky but there appears no way to set a custom camera (eg. MicaSense RedEdge). Is this correct?
In fact for the M210 drone I am not even sure what the default camera would be in Pix4D. How does one calculate the required overlap required if the camera specifications are lacking?
Thanks
Hi Peter,
Yes, you are right, the possibility to add a custom camera only exists on the iOS version of Pix4Dcapture at the moment.
On iOS, the procedure to properly operate a custom camera is described here.
To sum up and answer your questions:
Best,
Okay, new issues with Crystal Sky + Pix4d.
First - When you install the Pix4D + Ctrl+DJI you are able to use (limited usage) Pix4D. BUT for some reason this disables the DJI Pilot App (causes your to lose aircraft connection) You have to restore Crystal Sky to factory settings to fix this…
Second - When you use Pix4D on Crystal Sky (android) it is showing mission start position somewhere off the SW Coast of China… This is a huge issue to move the mission to the United States. I believe maps are beginning to load for the user’s physical location which is different than the mission location. You have to zoom WAAAY out to see almost the whole world to find your current location and the mission location. This needs to be reset somehow…
Hi Teddy,
Thank you for your feedback. Even if the CrystalSky is opened to third-party applications, we don’t officially support it for the moment but we are working on it.
In the future, we will put the latest APKs online, at a defined location, so that they are easy to get.
A link to download them will be accessible from our support website. It will come along with a procedure on how to install them on the DJI Crystal Sky.
We will communicate about it when it will be done.
However, we still encourage users to share their experience and the issues they encountered / solutions they found while installing and running Pix4Dcapture on the CrystalSky.
Best,
I just installed the August 27, 2019 update to Pix4D Capture along with the latest Ctrl+DJI on my Phantom 4+ V2 controller with the integrated CrystalSky display. Unfortunately, this did NOT help with my inability to connect to and control the PH4 with Pix4D, which is a problem I’ve had all along. (The little wireless icon never turns green and I can’t really start a flight.) I’ve tried everything I can find on this including the USB cable bridge idea with no success. If I stop the DJI Go app (both running and cached) it just starts up again and I cannot disable it. There is no option to set a default app for anything. I can’t get to a screen that asks me to choose which app to use either. I think these are only available on the NON-integrated CrystalSky dispalys available for the Inspire. I can’t even buy a whole new controller without the integrated display because they are out of stock at DJI and other places I’ve looked. If anyone can provide any NEW ideas, I’d appreciate the help.
Thank you for taking the time to post your findings, as this is helpful for our team and other users attempting to use Pix4Dcapture with the CrystalSky monitor. As my colleague Gael has pointed out in a previous comment, we currently do not support the use of Pix4Dcapture on the CrystalSky monitor. We are currently looking into the possibility of supporting and establishing a clear workflow between the integrated monitor and our application. I cannot provide a clear date on when this integration will be completed. But, we are definitely looking into the possibility.
At this time, you do have the option of purchasing a non-integrated controller without the monitor and pairing it with your drone. And in this case, you would select a mobile device or tablet of your choice to operate Pix4Dcapture.
Didn’t have a great experience. Was using Pix4D capture on May 29th, 2018 on a P4 Advanced with CrystalSky. Not my first flight using this combination. Midway during the flight the CrystalSky screen went completely black. Had to restart the CrystalSky; due to several factors, I used the RTH button and landed safely. Had never used RTH before; don’t plan on using CrystalSky again.
Hi all,
A procedure has been released to install the latest APKs of our application on DJI CrystalSky.
You can have a look here.
Let us know if you have any feedback about it.
Best,
Bonjour,
J’ai installé hier pix4dcapture sur mon drone Dji P4 pro V2 +…
Avec CTRL+ Dji et le câble USB…
Installation ok.
Salutations,
Merci.
Hi Gael,
I installed on a DJI CrystalSky both the Apps (Ctrl+DJI and Pix4Dcapture) following the procedure described in the article “How to install latest APKs on DJI CrystalSky”.
Now I can run Ctrl+DJI and from it the Pix4Dcapture app. The problem is that in the DJI drone list I cannot find the DJI Matrice 600.
Is the DJI Matrice 600 supported by Pix4Dcapture under Android and DJI Crystalsky?
If I “Activate” a different drone model in Pix4D, can I change it later ?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Maurizio
Hi Maurizio,
The DJI Matrice 600 has not been tested with the android version of the Pix4Dcapture and then we can not guarantee that you will be able to use it with our application. However, as stated in our supported drones and camera page, it might work selecting the Matrice 100 in the app.
You have the possibility to change the drone types if you want. However, the supported drones are automatically detected when you connect your drone with the app. To select the different drone, click on Settings at the top right corner of the home screen. Then you can select the desired drone under “DRONE” option.
Best,
Does anyone know where the images are stored on the internal memory with the Crystal Sky? I have a M210 RTK and I’m not a big fan of taking the micro SD card out of the aircraft. I synced the images to my Pix4D capture at the end of the mission and can see them from the Pix4D capture app. I’m struggling with the best way to pull them off the Crystal Sky?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hi Joe,
Thank you for your question.
Using the CrystalSky, to remove your images out of the internal memory, the procedure is the following:
It indeed seems that you cannot access the images from the DJI CrystalSky Explorer.
