Pix4D Pattern Results Question

Hi,

I am Jacob, a grad student at WVU conducting research on drone flights and topographic surveying methodology. One site I flew happens to have a repeating pattern painted on the ground (a very tight pattern, maybe 2-4-inches between lines with lines being about 2-4 inches wide). I expected maybe some errors in processing this small error, but was expecting a central tendency. Instead what I found is using the software I got a series of surfaces repeating, with the highest surface laying on the ground (matching my GPS survey within ± 0.04-feet), but a series of surfaces repeating below instead of surfaces both above and below. Verified it did not generate any points that were classified high vegetation or tree (only used road surface and ground - tossed the rest - with just 15-minutes of cleanup to approximate field work and what a professional would expect to spend cleaning up a surface). Was wondering if anyone may have any input on why it only repeated below and not both? Overall my results are good, just want to get some insight on what caused this to only repeat on one side and not both as I might have anticipated.

Thanks,

Jacob R., PE, SI, GISP
