I am looking at utilising Pix4D for visualising our point clouds datasets online (so our end users can view/interact), captured from both terrestrial and airborne sources (incl. LiDAR and SfM). I am therefore keen to understand if Pix4D Cloud can handle multiple point clouds for one project site and, if not, why not?
Ideally, I’d love to use Gaussian Splats features as well, however am I right in thinking that Pix4D only allows you to do this if you capture with Pix4D Catch? What about Pix4DMapper or similar? Is it possible to leverage Gaussian Splats when uploading to Pix4DCloud from pre-processed point clouds?
Many thanks in advance for your time and hope to hear from you soon,
Paul
Right now, the Cloud can only handle one point cloud in the viewer at a time. That said, there is a way to combine both point clouds in PIX4Dsurvey (on desktop) for upload in the same Cloud project using the “Share to Cloud” functionality. That may be what you are looking for? The drawback is that they will be considered as a single point cloud, but at least everything is in the same viewer.
As for the Gaussian Splatting, we’re working on scaling this to larger scenes. Right now it’s early days and we started with PIX4Dcatch data, we expect this to work with larger scenes in the future too. Good to know that this is a point of interest for you.
Having followed industry developments in 3DGS with interest, your recent press release PIX4Dcloud has georeferenced Gaussian Splatting for drones had me enthused to run a trial drone dataset (non lidar) & assess output. For context, my organisation has an active PIX4Dcloud Advanced licence. Unfortunately I have been unable to find / select ‘Gaussian splat’ under ‘Processing options’ step. Has this feature gone ‘live’ yet? Or am I perhaps missing an important step? TIA.
Hello @Grant_Fountain, the option should be available if you have a PIX4Dcloud Advanced license based on the credit system. If you have a license and are still having the issue, contact us using the below link.
As my colleague Kapil mentioned, the option is in the “output types” section.
If you don’t see it like in the screenshot, this could indicate a problem on our end. As Kapil mentioned, please reach out to us: Contact us
To contact support, please ensure that you provide the email address associated with your organization’s license in the form. The form appears after asking Pixie one question (you can find Pixie in the bottom-right corner).
Thank you for understanding, and I hope you can soon get satisfactory results using 3DGS in PIX4Dcloud.
