Even if the camera is too small for mapping using the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual, can I still take thermal images and process them within Pix4D Mapper? I don’t need high quality thermal images. Will the images still process by using the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual if the quality is too low? Thanks for your help!
Hi Travis,
To have enough visual content in the images for Pix4Dmapper to reconstruct the scene, we recommend:
- A minimum sensor resolution of 640x480. Smaller sensors are not supported and typically do not calibrate.
- Using a lens with a smaller focal length (9mm) increases the image’s footprint, though it is possible to use longer lens focal lengths.
- The image format should be either .tiff, .jpg or .rjpg.
If you meet the above requirement, you should be able to process the data using the Pix4Dmapper software. Just for the suggestion, make sure you have 85-90% front and side overlap during the image acquisition with the thermal camera.
For more information, I would recommend you to go through our support article Processing thermal images.
