I would like to be able to import PIX4D generated contour lines into PIX4D survey… in fact the ability to import DXF or SHP files as new layers would be hugely helpful.
Further more, I would like import C3D’s Alignment & samplelines group. Those C3D’s object could change to 2D polylines. Then, Pix4Dsurvey help us project those plines to point cloud. After this, we can adjust those plines to what we want z-altitude.
Hi all,
Just wanted to drop a note here that for some time now you’ve been able to import DXF files into PIX4Dsurvey - 3D stuff is treated as 3D while 2D can be assigned to a single elevation that’s appropriate for the project. We can’t yet project the linework to the point cloud (or the TIN), but we’re thinking about how to approach that. If you want C3D alignments, etc, just export from Civil using the Export to AutoCAD dxf option and bring that DXF to PIX4Dsurvey. Hope that helps you. Nate
Hi Nate,
Is there any update on the ability to project 2D linework onto the point cloud itself? This would be extremely helpful for our workflow. We want to import 2D linework from drawings into the point cloud to be used as breaklines when creating the surface, and I assume this only works if the linework is on the cloud. Forcing the line to an approximate project elevation would not be helpful as breaklines, unless using those lines as guides to draw in new vectors to be used, correct?
Hi @choffman ,
Yes, while the ability to drape a line on the point cloud isn’t quite ready, it’s currently in progress for the coming months. And I agree, for breaklines, the current 2D import flow of setting a single elevation isn’t enough. thanks, Nate
