GCP Coordinate Selection - EVRF2000

Hi!

I use the Emlid RS+ GNSS receiver to measure the coordinates for my GCPs with EPSG:25833 as horizontal coordinate system and EPSG:9274 (Austria height).

It is possible to choose CS EPSG: 25833 as “Known CS” but
what should i select for the “Vertical CS”? EPSG:9274 (Austria height) is nowhere
to find in the dropdown.

Looking really forward to hearing from you!

Best regards,
Phil

Hi @Phil,

Thank you for your request.
Note that PIX4Dmapper only allows the following vertical coordinate system:

  • egm84
  • egm96
  • egm2008

If the area of interest is relatively small, you can define an offset height from the WGS84 Ellipsoid.

You can find additional information here:

Also note that the EPSG:9274 vertical CS is available in PIX4Dmatic:

Hi @Daniele_Lecci,

thank you for your fast response!
For the next time I will definitly go for Pix4Dmatic but this time I have to solve the problem
somehow.

define an offset height from the WGS84 Ellipsoid

What would you suggest the right offset should be?

Thank you for the links!

Regards Phil

Hi Phil,

The offset will depend on the area of interest and might change over large areas. The offset is the difference between the elevation over the WGS84 Ellipsoid and the elevation according to EPSG:9274.

In fact, once you select the horizontal Coordinate System to be EPSG:25833, the interface will change and will ask for the offset above the GRS 1980 Ellipsoid.

Doing a fast online search I have found this map (external link):
https://www.isgeoid.polimi.it/Geoid/Europe/Austria/austria2008_g.html

I’m not 100% sure that this is the map you need. Please verify with the local Austrian provider if they can provide a detailed offset calculation according to the region your project is located.

best regards,
Daniele
