I’m looking for recommend technical specs for Pix4d Mapper for processing datasets over 3000 images upwards to 10,000 images. What is the practical Limit for Pix4d mapper in terms of number of images based on size of images i.e. 45 MP image files etc. Is scaling Linear or does it hit diminishing returns?
For datasets in the range of 3,000 to 10,000+ images (especially high-resolution ~45 MP), PIX4Dmapper does not have a strict image limit but is largely constrained by hardware, and performance scaling is not linear—processing time and memory usage increase disproportionately. I strongly recommend PIX4Dmatic, which is specifically designed for large-scale datasets, offers better scalability and stability, and can efficiently handle 10,000+ images in a single project. However, you would still need to have better hardware for such types of project even in PIX4Dmatic.
