Beta OS X version of Pix4Dmapper 2.0

Here is the “quality report” for the example project: It seems to work with my Apple Mac Pro (see the low window, where is written the CPU), but I’m still at the “initial processing”!

Here is the “quality report” for the example project at the end of the process:

Mac Beta Discovery quits unexpectedly:

Version: 2.0.83

OS version: Mac OS X 10.10.5

@Matt and David : Indeed, there are some layout issues in the video animation window. We have informed the dedicated developer and he is working on fixing them. Thank you for reporting that!

@Stuart: If you do not use a mouse, you can right click with a two-finger tap on the trackpad or with Control + one-finger tap. You can also terminate a polygon with one of these combinations.

@ Vertical Aspect Support: It is possible to use as default project location in the OS X version, like in the Windows version. For more information: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202557369

To open a project, you should first launch Pix4Dmapper and open a project from the User Interface. For the time being, double clicking the p4d file or drag-and-drop the p4d file in the Interface is not supported.

Are you facing any other issues when processing in the OS X version? Could we add your Mac device in the tested devices?

@Antonio: Could you please send us more details for the Mac device that you used to process in order to register it in the tested devices. More specifically, we would like to know:

-Model

-OS version

-GPU

@ Evan:

Could you please provide us the following?

  1. The log file generated by Pix4Dmapper. You can send the log file to support@pix4d.com.
  2. The images of the project that crashed. For step by step instructions on how to upload the project: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202558589. Please let us know when the project is uploaded.

Hi

Here is the report I ran from my machine on the supplied guided tour project. You may add this to your tested machines if you want. (Details below)

Question: As a complete noob to Pix4D do you know of people who provide services to process images into point clouds? Watching your V1.3 Guided Tour video gave me a headache, and I will spend the time I have to in order to learn the software from scratch if that is necessary… but it may be more beneficial to my business to get someone else to generate the projects for me…

Hi @Ollie.  What will you be using to capture your images and how do you intend to use them?

We have two drones at the moment - Inspire 1 and Phantom 3 Pro.

Clients have shown an interest in 3D Mapping. I can also see a benefit to visual fly throughs of projects we already film for clients with usual video practices

I’m using Inspire 1 and Phantom 2V+ as well.  The Pix4D software works really well for them.  I’d be willing to help you out if you need some assistance with processing data.

Thanks - get in touch via my website www.virtuallyfamous.co.nz

We have literally JUST started looking at Pix4D, so infancy is an exaggeration…

@Support

Yes you can add my machine to the list that work. Thanks for the heads up on the default project location. I have to verify, buth I don’t think that the start up page is saving previous projects.

No, sorry, you can’t add my machine to the list of computers that work, because I had some crashes during the use and I need more time to test the program. I have a prayer to do: my evaluation time will end in two days, if I’m not wrong, but I’d like to make a fly with my Phantom 2 vision plus and try how the full system works. Can you kindly extend the evaluation period to another one week or better to two other weeks? I’ll appreciate it more. Waiting for an answer, kind regards.

Hi, I’m waiting for an answer to my question about the possibility to extend the trial period to another week, at least, due to bad geomagnetic conditions that stopped me during this week.

Best regards.

@ Ollie: Thank you for the detailed description of your Mac specs. We have added your device to our tested devices list. Regarding processing in Pix4Dmapper, please note that we offer a lot of training material in our Support website to help you process your projects. Also, from time to time we organize training events and workshops. Please contact Talk to sales for more information.

@Ollie / David: You can use Pix4Dmapper Capture App to design and execute a Mission with Phantom 2 Vision, Phantom 2 Vision+, Inspire 1 (beta), Phantom 3 Pro (beta), Phantom 3 Advanced (Beta). Pix4Dmapper Capture App and Pix4Dmapper are perfectly compatible and you can reconstruct the model by clicking one button.

@Vertical Aspect Support: Thank you for the specs of the device you tested. We have added the device to our tested device list.

@Antonio: Could you please send us the following to support@pixd.com to further investigate the crashes?

  1. The log file generated by Pix4Dmapper.
2 The images of the project that crashed. We can try to reproduce the crash on our Mac devices. For step by step instructions on how to upload the project: https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/202558589
Please let us know when the project is uploaded.

We will delete the Mac OS X crash log from the Forum so as to keep it clean. Once we have all the information, we will forward it to the dedicated developer to further investigate. Regarding the extension of the trial period, please contact sales@pix4d,com.

Best regards,

@Support: The splash page on the current version does not retain the history of projects that have been opened. I have run several other projects and none are retained in the history like the windows version. Screen shot below:

The Pix4Dmapper app with P3 and Inspire 1 support is in beta for android only correct?  I have iOS devices and would need the beta of the iOS version when it’s released.

Has anyone managed to run OS X versions of Mesh or Mapper Pro on a Mac Pro successfully?

@David Barton: Yes you are correct. I went and purchase a Samsung Tab S2 to use with our Inspires. Got tired of waiting and too many of our clients wanted to map with the Inspire as well.

@tom kidd: I have run several projects with Mapper pro on the Mac, nothing huge though.

Thanks.

Is the app able to work with Inspire pro? Does it matter which lens is used?

Which Mac Pro?

No it does not work with the new X5 yet. MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2011)

Thanks V.A.

I was wondering about a Mac Pro rather than Macbook Pro.

Is the Capture app the only easy way of feeding a grid and exposure intervals into a DJI?
