Where can I download 2.1.1? I only see 2.0.8 on the Play store and I joined the group as a beta tester.

@Caleb, it should be in the play store… I just downloaded for me
@Jonas, Still had an issue with one flight where the camera didn’t tilt down to 90 degrees. otherwise this is shaping up to be very very stable. Now I am looking forward to your team getting serious on features and I have a list in order of importance.
I totally agree with all of Keenans feature requests except my order of importance is slightly different, for me the order would be1, 5, 2, 3, and 4.
I concur with Keenan’s observations, and completely agree with Mike’s order of importance.
Regarding Item #2 - Having the craft “auto return” at 30% battery level, swap battery, and auto return to the last desired image location will enable us to get the jobs done in the best manner. This will allow Item #1 and #5 to be even more valuable.
I therefore postulate that addressing this issue first should become the first priority. If my craft could accomplish the auto return to last desired photo location, then the current rectangular only format functionality would be most radically improved. It is my opinion that being able to define an irregular flight polygon should then follow in order of importance.
Thanks for all of you hard work. You make my surveying career lots of fun!
Completely agree with these observations as well. Fortunately Drone Deploy is leaps and bounds ahead and currently offers these features. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pix4d and their product but I will be using DD for the time being.
Does drone deploy couple the photos with the drone gnss GPS or are stuck using the exif gps locations of the camera?
Jason, I’m not sure what setup you are using. I’m running the phantom 3A. Its using the exif file from the photos but that location data has to be coming from the drones GNSS antenna because the camera doesn’t have its own antenna. I’m surveying in ground control points using RTK GNSS as well so the camera locations don’t matter as much to me. I should add that I am using Pix4d professional to create mosaics and point clouds, not currently uploading the data to drone deploy because they don’t offer the resolution that I’m looking to attain.
Quick Question.
Has the icon of the craft with the red and green arms been removed from version 2.11?
If so…i want it back
It hasn’t. What do you see instead?
I only see the trail left by the craft. We have 40mph winds right now…so I had to abandon my test prior to any photos, or initiating mission.
I was also rather hesitant as I had no craft icon. I do have the icon for my controller position, and I see the little “home point” icon.
I un-installed, and reinstalled with no change. No icon of craft appears.
Version 2.08 always worked perfect for me.
running…
Phantom 3 Pro…with firmware updated today. Capture version 2.11, Samsung tablet Tab S SM-T700, wifi access/yes
Great news…I uninstalled DJI GO, then Capture…reinstalled DJI go, then Capture…and I have a craft icon now. Sorry for the trouble.
Jonas,
Can you tell us, what is on the radar for the capture app? I think it would be good to communicate a road map of your short term and long term priorities
* We are currently working on the mission planning: we want to make it easier to make multi-battery projects. That should come in beta quite soon (~2 weeks)
* We are working on integrating SDK3, which means that we will then support all DJI drones. It will allow us to improve stability a lot, as SDK3 is much better than SDK2. We’ve had a pretty hard time with SDK2, and we need to recover from that. But it is progressing ;-).
Best,
Jonas,
“Multi battery projects”
That is great news to my ears. Thank you for everything.
Jonas,
I may be experiencing a bug that I have not heard mention of before, and may possibly be unique to me.
When I set a flight height that yields a “green” flight zone such as 240 ft., when I “press and hold for three seconds” to start the mission, the craft does what I expect.
If my height is the 360 foot that I need for this job, the flight zone turns yellow as expected. However, when I “press and hold for three seconds” to start the mission, the craft will always just sit there hovering.
I have now repeated this behavior many times now, and it is predictable on my unit regarding the green or yellow flight zone. If this is truly a bug that you can identify, is there any chance of compiling a new build by Friday?
I may have just lost a great opportunity with a new client, so I am somewhat heartbroken.
Hello John,
I am really sorry for your bug =/. I will have a look, but honestly it might be difficult to reproduce. Actually, the visual feedback (green, yellow, red) is only indicative, and it is only used in the UI. It has no impact on the mission.
It is a bit conservative, and we should update it since drones evolved quite a bit since we introduced that feedback. But we always fly in red, for instance…
The goal was more to give an idea to a beginner. “A green mission cannot really go bad”, “you should definitely know what you are doing if you go to a red mission”. We should definitely improve that since many users think they cannot even try to start a red mission.
Back to your bug: Try to fly a bit lower. DJI introduced some altitude limit in the recent firmwares, so maybe 360 is too high and the drone refuses to take off…
Glad to see some movement here and definitely looking forward to multi battery missions. A few questions on that, lets say I mission plan a 250 acre site and on one end of the site there’s some elevation changes, maybe small hills or tall trees, etc. (after all the world isn’t flat) when I land to change battery will I be able to change altitude and then continue the mission? Or will I have to plan seperate missions as I do now? I would be ok with that if my previous flight lines were still visible in the Capture app as I planned the new mission or if I could input lat/longs for the areas I wanted to fly. Second question is are we going to be able to save missions to refly again? Another question that I posted in the 2.1 forum but since all the activity is here I’ll ask again if there are any plans to support Healthy Drones? A few other features I’d like to see added are camera controls, sometimes I get very overexposed images, as part of the telemetry I’d like to see battery cell voltage, and finally I’d like to have a small camera window on the main map window instead of switching between map or camera view, I’d rather see them both at the same time. Keep up the good work, will also be running a project through Mapper 2.1 next week, pretty interested in how the rolling shutter options will work.
Hello Mike!
* Thanks for the suggestions. Let’s wait for the next release, and then we’ll decide based on the feedback we get.
* I don’t know Healthy Drones, so the answer is no: not planned. Is it really useful?
* Camera control is a bit tricky, but taking good images is our goal, so we are definitely thinking about that.
Jonas Healthy Drones is a service that lets hobbyists and professionals see the “health” of the drones sensors and batteries and view flight details. It’s even more useful for those of us that are flying commercially with more than 1 drone, need to keep a log book and have a need for FAA reporting. It is being supported by quite a few apps.
I also believe that Drone Deploy will be supporting this in the very near future.
Noted! I’ve put that in a ticket, so we’ll have a look
