Hi everyone,
Today, our spotlight takes us to Wollar, in NSW, Australia:

Will Heesterman shared some details about the building and the 3D mapping project:
“In Wollar, NSW, Australia, lies this century old Anglican Church. The church dates back to the early 1900’s, with the oldest readable grave reading 1882.
As the town’s population decreased, the church was closed. It now lies abandoned on the outskirts of the village. I wanted to capture the unique castle-like design in its current condition before it declined any further.
The images were captured with a DJI Phantom 4 in conjunction with Pix4Dcapture.
I flew a double grid mission at 30m and 90% sidelap and overlap. This was followed by a circular mission at 20m, then using the free-flight mode I scanned the walls with the camera at about 15°, taking photos at 2m horizontal and vertical intervals. No ground control was used, however, 5 manual tie points were added to ensure a complete model. I edited the point cloud in Pix4Dmapper Pro to remove all unnecessary detail and added some orientation constraints before generating the 3D textured mesh.”
Enjoy the 3D experience and feel free to share your comments and your own projects.
