Volume measurements of logs/timber

I have used Pix4D for volume measurement of sand and gravel. 99% of the times is works great!

Now I have a potential new customer that wants measurements on their stockpiles of logs/timber. When measuring the stack in Pix4D the result will include the volumes between the logs. Anyone that can tell me how many % I should remove from the measurement in order to get a more accurate figure of the actual volume of logs?

I’ve done a few timber stockpile measurements and I’ve used the method described in this .pdf at the last page:

I have calculated stockpiles that been chipped afterwards and my calculation have been very accurate
