Visualisation Issue: DSM Color Grading not working in Pix4D Cloud Advanced (arbitrary, no CRS)

Dear Support Team,

I am reaching out regarding a visualization issue I’ve encountered when using a project with an arbitrary coordinate system (meters).

The Workflow:

I processed a model locally in Pix4Dmatic using a local coordinate system (meters).

After generating the DSM, I am able to adjust the color scales and display the elevation data correctly within Pix4Dmatic.

However, after uploading this project to Pix4D Cloud Advanced, the DSM display fails.

The Problem:

In the Cloud interface, the settings and sliders for the DSM display are available, but they do not seem to have any effect. The entire model area remains a single solid color regardless of the settings applied. It appears as though the elevation range is not being correctly interpreted in the Cloud environment for models without a global georeference.

Example Link:

You can view the affected project here for closer inspection: PIX4Dcloud

Could you please investigate why the color grading for the DSM is not rendering correctly in the Cloud version of this project?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards, Manuel

here you see a screenshot, that shows the correct DSM in Matic. The issue is only in CloudAdvanced, after uploading from Matic.:thinking:

Hello @drones6

Thanks for reporting this.
I have investigated with the information that you have shared and I have suspected root cause is information is missing from the DSM’s metadata that the 2D editor relies on to render the elevations when the output CRS is arbitrary and it’s uploaded with PIX4Dmatic’s Share to PIX4Dcloud.

In this sense, this has to be verified in more detail by the product team. I have already reported it and it is being reviewed.

In the meantime, the workaround is to export a TIFF copy of the DSM from PIX4Dmatic and then upload it using the web UI. When that happens, PIX4Dcloud’s NEW_TILE_DSM project task will add the necessary statistics in the DSM COG Display’s metadata.

Please let us know if this information helps you.

Kind regards
