Hello everyone,
I am new to the Pix4D community and currently exploring Pix4D to better understand how it can meet my survey requirements. I am planning to survey a 33 kV powerline corridor using drone data and process it with Pix4D.
I have seen that many experienced professionals in this community have completed impressive powerline and utility mapping projects, so I am here to learn from your knowledge and experience.
My main questions are:
- Is Pix4D suitable for generating highly accurate survey deliverables for a 33 kV powerline project?
- What workflow would you recommend for powerline mapping and corridor surveys?
- Can Pix4D produce CAD-compatible 3D drawings/models that can be directly used in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other engineering software?
- What level of accuracy can realistically be achieved using proper GCPs, RTK/PPK drone data, and good survey practices?
- Are there any specific challenges when capturing powerline conductors, poles, and surrounding terrain that I should be aware of?
My goal is to obtain accurate 3D survey data and CAD-ready outputs for engineering and design purposes. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations, best practices, lessons learned, or examples from similar projects.
Thank you in advance for sharing your expertise. I look forward to learning from this community and improving my workflow.
Best regards,
Saurab Chamlagai
