Thank you very much for the support. So, this means that I have bought a perpetual license for functional software, now I need to buy 1k EUR of support and upgrade to make it functional? Or is it a free upgrade since the software has non-functional features?

Hi Mario,

I understand your concern. When you purchased your perpetual “one-time charge” license in 2022, you also agreed to our End-User License Agreement (Pix4D legal). The EULA explains that Support & Upgrades are not included by default, that Pix4D may change or discontinue certain functionalities, and that older versions may stop working if upgrades are declined. It also clarifies that third-party services such as satellite providers are outside of Pix4D’s control.

This is specifically the case for all PIX4Dfields versions older than 2.10 concerning the satellite download feature because of a change on the side of the satellite provider.

We know it’s frustrating when something that used to work no longer does. The reality is that maintaining compatibility with providers and delivering four major releases each year requires significant ongoing development. That’s why access to fixes and improvements is tied to the Support & Upgrades program.

To restore satellite import and benefit from the many features added since 2022, the way forward is to add a Support & Upgrades plan to your OTC license so you can update to the current version (2.10.2). It’s definitely worthwhile given the improvements we’ve shipped in the meantime.
