Point Cloud Sampling

One feature of Pix4D that was excellent was that we could generate a point cloud in step 3 that was based on a sample size ie 20cm sampling of the step 2 point cloud. This greatly reduced the size of the LAS file to only having a point selected every 20cm and made a great DSM resolution when processing it in other GIS software. It would be nice to have this feature in Matic as the point cloud file is so dense and often over the top of what is needed for surface generation.

@to1 thank you for posting. I’d like to fully understand your PIX4Dmapper workflow: what do you mean by “only having a point selected every 20cm”? Did you do this in PIX4Dmapper or used 3rd-party software? Could you described the steps you took? Thanks!

Hi Rhea
I am referring to the Grid DSM in step 3 pix4dmapper that generates a .las point cloud file based on the grid spacing I tell it. This provides a greatly reduced and gridded point cloud that is way easier to work with.
