LiDAR - Classification of features

We are testing LiDAR capabilities using our DJI Matrice 300 with a L1 (LiDAR) camera. Last week we successfully completed a test flight and processed the data in Terra. I was informed that this unclassified .las file could be brought into Pix4Dsurvey to categorize all features automatically with the use of an algorithm, however I’ve only been able to categorize into Terrain and Non-terrain features. Is it possible to categorize additional features (wire - guard, wire - conductor, transmission tower, low/med/high vegetation…etc) with the use of an algorithm as well, or can it only be done manually in Pix4Dsurvey? If it can’t be done, I’d be interested in hearing about recommendations on software options that can do so (TerraSolid?).

Thanks in advance for your input!

Hi @Paul_Petersen,

Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately it is not possible to use a full automatic classification.
You can however make use of the PIX4Dsurvey color-based selections to rapidly manually classify your point cloud.

Once you have selected the points, right click > Assign to ASPRS class.
I hope this helps you.
