Image Scale and Vegetation

Can someone please explain to me the theory behind more points being computed for trees or other vegetation when the image scale is reduced? It seems like less points should be generated overall with a smaller image scale.

Thanks

Hi Peter,

I had the same experience in projects with vegetation, reducing the image scale gave more points. I think that’s related to the complexity of reconstructing vegetation, if your image scale is too high, there will be too many details in the images and Pix4D is not able to find similar points between images, so less points in the point cloud. However, if the image scale is smaller, the areas will be more similar (because less details), so the software can find more similar points between images and there are more points in the point cloud at the end.

Cheers
