GCP's in field / dirt areas?

Would it be beneficial if to have a steel plate on a pole (driven into the ground)  installed in the ground and a high visibility point marked on it, and have a survey crew give that as a GCP reference?

This would be for earthworks construction with ongoing surveys needing quantities, like a mine or gravel pit type application.  That way I can use the same GCP and not have surveyors do tie ins on every mission correct?

Todd,

Permanent Ground Control Points are very useful.  You will obviously need more than 1.

The trick is to figure out the placement for the GCP’s (several good Pix4D articles here) that wont be disturbed by the earth work.

Keep in mind the GCP’s can be existing structures/items that wont be disturbed during the project.
