Calibrate DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral images in Pix4Dmapper

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble getting radiometric calibration to work with imagery from the DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral (M3M) in Pix4Dmapper.

I’ve tried:

  • The DJI reflectance panel that comes with the drone

  • An ARINOV reflectance panel, which Pix4D automatically detects when using other cameras (like the Parrot Sequoia)

However, Pix4Dmapper doesn’t seem to recognize or apply calibration with either panel when the images come from the M3M.

From other posts in the forum, it seems that only the Sentera panel is currently supported for M3M calibration.

My questions are:

  1. Is it true that only the Sentera reflectance panel is supported for the M3M in Pix4Dmapper?

  2. Why don’t the DJI or ARINOV panels work, even though ARINOV works with other sensors?

  3. Are there metadata or compatibility limitations specific to the M3M?

  4. Is there an official calibration workflow for the M3M, or a list of panels that are fully supported?

Any help or clarification from Pix4D staff or other users with experience would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Lourdes

Hello @drrfinqueritos,

  1. You can use other reflectance panel with M3M. However, you need to know the reflectance factor of those M3M bands for the panel you are using. You can usually, reach out to the panel manufacturer and get those values and manually insert those value in PIX4Dmapper software during Step 3.
  2. If you have the reflectance factor for the M3M any panel will work. The only thing is that the software might not auto detect the panel and use the reflectance value. In this case, you have to manually mark the reflectance panel and provide the reflectance factor value.
