I should also add that it came home and landed perfectly before the mission was complete when the battery ran low. I let this happen and watched carefully with my fingers on the sticks ready to take over at any moment. I didn’t need to.
The google map does not allow zooming in. I t turns into black squares with X s. I zoom out far enough and the map appears but at that point the grid is too smal to adjust. So I zoom in to adjust the grid and the map disappears. I need both in order to be able to know how to adjust the grid. Also can you please add irregular shape grids? This would be very helpful. Thanks.
I flew a 64 acre site this weekend with 2.05. Just updating from 2.04 did not work, had to uninstall and do a fresh install of 2.05. Not a big deal, sort of expected that as it has been mentioned here. Not sure but it seems we can pick larger grids in 2.05. First flight went perfect, almost. In 2.04 I would set the speed slider slightly higher than half way, flight speed would be 10-11 ft/s. In 2.05 with the speed slider set in the same position, my flight speed was 21-22 ft/s. That was the only issue with my first flight. As for the sliders for settings, I don’t really like it, not big enough, too sensitive to set, would much more prefer input boxes. After I landed, shut everything down, changed battery and turned everything on again I could see my previous flight lines and camera icons. Thought maybe this was a new feature as it was pretty handy for setting the second flight grid. After I took off the flight lines and camera icons disappeared. Halfway through the flight my tablet froze, used the return home on the remote to end the mission. I use a Samsung Tab A, have flown in the range of 20 flights with it using the Capture app with no issues till now. Shut everything down, changed battery, and flew a third flight to finish up what was missed by my second flight, had no issues.
@ Kyle I’ve never set my camera at 90° before taking off, always at 0° , the Capture app sets it to 90° after I take off, then when the mission is completed and the Phantom is landing the camera goes back to 0°. Think this is a nice feature to help protect the camera lens. I have never had a flight with pictures taken not looking down at a 90°.
Forgot to add that I really like the addition of the grid screenshot and the gpx files. What are the liveImages and liveImages p4d for ?
@ Jonas Any news about why some devices cannot connect to the Inspire1 when starting a mission? Reading the forum, we are speaking about devices such as the Galaxy 6s, OnePlus2, … (rather high end devices)
@Maxime: Do you get the Android popup offering you to start DJI Go when you connect the phone to the RC?
It is really difficult to say, as we don’t have any clue about what is happening between the phone and the RC. Basically, we can tell the SDK to “connect”, and it should connect to the RC. If an error occurs, then the SDK should send us an error, but usually it doesn’t. So we try to make different kinds of hacks in order to make the connection more stable, but the bottom line is that the SDK should take care of everything, since we have no way to access that part of the code.
That is why I always hope that the next SDK release will fix those problems…
@Jonas: No, I’ve even cleared the default applications.
Is there any tip or trick we could execute to test is out? I’ve looked at the log and it indeed does not give a lot of useful details :9
I’ll test with another phone HTC M7 to see if it gets any better.
That is interesting… Do you have anything that could show that your phone recognized the USB Accessory? Can you connect to your Inspire 1 using DJI Go?
First thing is that the phone should detect a USB Accessory. Then, the SDK can try to establish a connection etc. If the phone does not even detect it, then it is another problem. But in this case, DJI Go should fail to connect, too…
Every time I connect the phone/tablet to the USB, it ask me which app I want to connect.
Have the choice between the Dji Go and Litchi App.
Then I misunderstood your previous answer. So it works with DJI Go and Litchi, but not with Capture? Are you sure that DJI Go and Litchi are not running when you start Capture (e.g. did you try “force quit” them)?
DJI Go app and Litchi App can connect without any issue.
Other capture apps (Altizure/MapsMadeEasy/…) can connect without issue… but I rather would like to use my preferred app
I’m 200% sure that nothing else is running. I’ll kill all apps before starting any app that would connect to the I1. It kinda became one of my best practice now
Okay, I get it =). One thing that we do is that we connect to the drone when you go into “Grid Mission” or “Free flight”, and we disconnect when you go back to the main menu. But if that was the problem, then it should at least connect the first time.
I will try to add Capture to the Android popup (the one asking which App you want to connect) and release 2.0.6. I don’t think that will help but… we never know!
That would be anyhow a great addition I think, so we can choose the app we want to use when plunging in the USB.
I however will not be able to test it right now as I’m at the office all week (really not far away from you guys btw). But I think that @ Keenan Newton had the same issue with his S6 Edge+.
@Maxime Vanhamme
Yes, I did and to resolve it. I uninstalled the Capture App and reinstalled it. It works fine now.
@Jonas
I do think having the Capture App come up with usb accessory pop up would help reduce a lot of confusion.
Received an update to 2.0.6 today, no mention here. Any major changes, still compatible with firmware 1.4.0010?
Any chance of having camera view and map view on one screen? One sized smaller in the corner and you can switch back and forth from camera view and map view by clicking on the smaller one in the corner.
Looks like they added another… 2.0.7
Tested, and everything worked perfect!
Thanks
All, please list the devices you are using successfully. I cannot get the galaxy s6 to connect to the p3p in version 2.05 or 2.06. The galaxy s4 connects to the p3p but error in loading the flight plan. Any advice?
@Jason
I have been successful with a Galaxy S6 Edge+, Tab S and Tab 4
@Mike: For now, it is not planned to show the video on top of the map. The reason is just that the video stream is still not stable for all the drones. But it might come at some point!
Otherwise, no major change. We just merged the beta drones into the production App, so that everybody get version 2.0.7. We now mention in the drone selection window if the drone is a beta or not.
@Jason: Can you describe your problem more precisely? For the S6, do you get the Android popup asking you to choose an App when you plug the USB in your phone? For the S4, did you try to restart the drone and the App? Did you force quit DJI Go? When the pre-flight checklist fails to upload the flight plan to the drone, it means that we sent it to the drone, and the drone sent back an error. The reason for that is still not completely clear to me =/.
I am happy to see that it works for Keenan and John! As always, thanks for the feedback!
@ Jonas Vautherin
I have done everything on the Galaxy s6 including force stop all programs and USB Debugging. The s6 does get the popup for the Capture App USB and occasionally pops up the DJI conflict and force stop. When I go into Capture Mission The S6 never gets response from the radio link and only shows N/A for all the P3P drone outputs and blank camera. The S6 did connect with 2.04 but very intermittent and never uploaded a mission plan.
I can simply swap out the Galaxy S6 for a Galaxy S4 running 2.05 or 2.07, get the popups for usb ( I have not installed DJI on the S4 yet) and it immediately starts a green flashing of the radio/wifi link symbol and connects to the drone and gives outputs for drone battery and satellites and camera but N/A for the microSD card. I went into DJI (with the s6) and reformatted the P3P sd card (which has recorded pictures and photos through DJI and is working). It goes through all the green takeoff checks and communicates with the drone. However no matter what config I have (flying first in “p” of “f”) I could not seem to upload the mission in 2.05.
Today it is snowing, but I am hellbent so I flew P3P with S4 and 2.07 and I am please to report my first successful mission (took off in “p” and then switched to “f”). I think it would be very valuable to be able to load missions to the drone inside, before flying, and from the other software, mesh and Pix4d Pro. Its a waste of flight battery to be planning missions in the field. I also would like to see the compass calibration in the capture app as that is necessary in the field. I also do not understand why the mission has to be downloaded to the capture app on the phone device to get the p4d precise gps files synced with the photos rather than connecting the drone directly to the computer running mesh or pro?
