[Android Beta] - Phantom 3 Professional / Advanced and Inspire 1

Oh the speed option is there.

Just click the gear icon in the mission screen.

Thanks a lot Keenan for your help =).

As for your problem with the Galaxy S6, I got the log file and I clearly see that 2.0.5-beta is not connecting. Difficult to say why, though. I will try to find a Galaxy S6 and investigate into that!

Thanks Keenan for the tip on finding the flight control speed!

I would also like to add that if anyone “loses” the speed and elevation status on the grid mission screen, they just need to tap the “signal strength” icon next to the gear to toggle the display of the flight information back on.

I can also confirm that it is advisable to uninstall your DGI Go app, and your previous version of Pix4D grid mapper prior to installing the new 2.0.5 beta.

It might be worth mentioning that last night I used my parabolic shaped antenna range boosters for the first time with this app. Also for the first time I observed no missing photos icons during the flight. I suspect that the improved signal to the craft may have helped.

We have never used a range booster, but that makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the tip! May I ask what range booster it is?

DYI WIFI range booster also here on youtube -

and template located here -

I used the template and modified them to be taller and narrower so they are parallel and coverage for the full length of the antenna. They seem to work very well in directing and thereby boosting the signal in a specific direction. At the same time they block the signal in the other direction so it is easier to lose signal if you don’t keep it directed at the Phantom.

FYI, here is the actual range test with the wind surfer antennas -

I think this is in Europe though and I think their wifi power is set lower by default per local regulations. Not sure though.

I purchased one of the units off eBay and lost connection while running the capture app. Might have been the capture app or not facing the drone. I took it off and haven’t tried it since.

Is there a way to manually upload the flight mission to Pix4D? I don’t want to use the cloud.

I have taken the flight missions off of the tablet, but I can’t seem to find a way to manually upload the mission geolocation and orientation. If I try to add photos from a free flight mission and a grid mission into the same project the low accuracy from the DJI Go App Geolocating throws off the two heights of the missions and I end up with a model rendered in two different positions ruining the project.

Should I just say the Geolocation accuracy is low when selecting the photos? For some reason I don’t think that will fix my problem, even if it does its a cheap solution not a real one.

Also, can you only reduce the processing area in the trial or pro version and not the free version? That needs to chang IMO.

Finally, how do you get rid of what I guess I’ll call white noise? some projects there are tie points randomly in the sky making white crap appearing above the project. Can I just select a bunch of tie points and delete them to remove these?

Mitchell, first off, I don’t think asking Pix4D to expand the capabilities of the free version of their software is fair. The free version of software is typically to explore the capabilities of the paid versions. It’s not meant to be a ‘production version’ with full capabilities. If you want those, purchasing the pro version is the way to go.

Next, as far as the white noise you are describing, there are two ways to handle it - you can use annotations on the original images themselves to exclude areas of processing, or you can edit the point cloud after it’s created to delete those outlier points. I’m not sure if either of these capabilities are available in the free version, but they are very helpful within the paid version.

You don’t have to use the cloud at all! You can simply copy the images from the SD card to your computer, and create a project from that.

For now, in the beta, you should actually do that. The geolocation should be fine in the images taken by a P3/I1. Only the P2 has this problem.

When it comes to the free version, it allows you to do everything except exporting the results. Mitchell is right about the annotations: that is a nice way to remove noise coming from the sky =).

Taking the photos off the SD card from multiple missions and just loading them into Pix4D isn’t woking for me. Seems to be a reoccurring problem that the computer can’t combine the two missions, here is an example where it thinks the free flight mission was taken at a incorrect height compared to the grid mission.

If I do one mission at a time the program makes an acceptable project, but I can’t combine missions in order to create more detail. Found how to do annotations on images though, thanks for the bit of information.  For some reason I’m not allowed to select a processing area on new projects, but I am able to on past projects. I’m going to uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes this random issue.

@ Mark

Why would I pay for something that doesn’t work?  It is entirely fair to assume that the program should work before people are expected to pay for it. I am spending a lot of my own time trying to get this to work completely free of charge to Pix4d. Once it s actually working properly I can go to my boss and have no problem expensing this. But there is no way I am going to get a cent from him if I can’t who that it works.

I would need more information, but you need to use manual tie points to “tie” the two projects together.

The program works as has been demonstrated by many people doing exactly what you are doing. Have you done the free trial of the full version?

Thank you Kyle! I was pretty taken back by his remark.

However, Jonas was able to give me an answer and there appears to be a problem with my install as I should be able to set my processing area even in the free version. The customer support given by Pix4D is terrific, maybe just not all the users.

And Yes Vertical Aspect, I already used my free trial. I am going to purchase it eventually. I want to perfect my first project/client before I pursue more and make the full monthly purchase. I’m not really tying two existing projects together, I’m uploading all the pictures at one time into one mission off the USB as I’ve been told I can do, but it’s not working. I’ll figure it out, I’ll try loading separate missions and tieing them together according to the post you linked too. Thank you.

By the way, this topic is about the beta version of Capture. If you have problems with the Mapper, please contact our support!

Hello Friends, I am Sanket, totally new to 3d mapping, I have got Inspire1 and presently learning 3d mapping for my railway projects. Few Questions: 1) In free flight mode can we use both software simultaneously that is DJI app for POI circle path automatic and Capture app for clicking photos automatically with coordinates. 2) I have to do corridor mapping inside city ( because Metro rail is coming 40KM) , so what is the best way to do it, What should be the camera angle ?? What should be the height ?? What should be the plan - grid mission or free flight . 3) When is the more stable version coming for Inspire1 so that we can use it commercially. Request to help me out. Thank you

Usb help. Running P3pro with updated firmware Pix4d 2.0.5beta Samsung Galaxy s6 Verizon Wireless android Cannot connect to drone. Tried multiple configurations. Reinstalled pix4d, forced stopped.dji and other programs, turned on and off WiFi and Bluetooth 100%charged phone, mtp and ptp usb options. Previously pix4d 2.0.4 (dropdown drone selection?) would connect but failed to upload flight plan.

Finally got everything working, sort of. Had to restart each piece of equipment and unplug and re plug a few times until it was all green checks. One time it was going through the checks and said it was loading the mission and the props slowly starting getting faster and faster as it was idling on the grind. Eventually got it going right. It still warns that the grid is too large no matter how large it is so I have advanced mode on and then ignore the warning. Set to 90% overlap and it went much better. The % overlap slider needs a lot of improvement. It is far too small and sensitive to be able to use it. Why not just have an input field? It stared the mission and then I switch back a forth between map view and camera view. Not very fast, just about 10 seconds apart to ensure the camera was still pointing down. Then the camera live view went dark. At the same time it increased to rate of pictures per distance by about a factor of 4 for about 30 pictures. Then it went back to normal and so I tried switching back to camera view again and against it started taking a it 30 rapid pictures. So I just left it alone and of it finish. All the images were straight down when I checked at home but when the drone came back to home it was in the oblique position, like last time even though it was set to vertical in the settings. Last time I did not notice this and the entire second mission was wasted.
