Use insta360 for photogrammerty

Hi, has anyone tested the use of Insta360, Ricoh Theta, or similar cameras for photogrammetry? We are looking for a simple solution for modeling wells and other underground structures, where these camera models could easily be lowered, for example, using a selfie stick.

We have done a test with an older GoPro Fusion, but when using this the geometry becomes “compressed,” and we don’t get the correct geometry represented in the final model. Of course, we could perform the measurement with a regular video camera and then split it into frames for processing. If we do this, we just need to make sure there is sufficient overlap. In theory, this could be avoided by using a 360-degree camera, making it easier to get a usable capture every time.

Hello @Arne_Frost_Vedsted, you can process a spherical camera using the PIX4Dmapper software, which is supported. I recommend that you review the support article below.
