Two cameras with lateral offset to reduce number of track sto fly?

Apologies if this has already been dealt with somewhere else. I did try to search.

We use manned aircraft for image acquisition.

In trying to reduce the number of tracks to fly for a given GSD, I would like to know if it is worthwhile mounting two “identical” cameras in a rig to acquire more pixels across the track?

If so, I assume they can be aligned with minimum lateral overlap?

Any suggestions or warnings will be welcome.

Best wishes to all

Hi Wynand,

The issue with that would be Pix4D might identify both as one camera, but they might not be synchronized perfectly (both images captured at the exact same time). Also, the software might get confused when it is identified as a single camera. You can try but the best option in my opinion would be to merge both the projects after processing step 1. It would be good to optimize the cameras independently (https://support.pix4d.com/hc/en-us/articles/204326775-How-to-assign-images-to-two-Camera-Models). Let me know if that answers your question. Thanks

Thank you Momtanu
I’ll give it some more thought.
