I am trying to import a shape file created in AutoCAD to calculate some stock volumes.
I have tried allots of different options when exporting from CAD it but none work.
Error’s range from:
[Warning]: Warning w9020: GDAL Error <1> Invalid index : -1
to:
[Warning]: Warning w9020: GDAL Error <6> No translation for an empty SRS to PROJ.4 format is known.
[Warning]: Warning w9020: GDAL Error <1> Invalid index : -1
I know its a coordinate system thing but i’m stuck.
Hi Peter,
Are you using this method to import the shapefile?
How-to-import-a-Volume-into-Volumes
Could you attach to your reply your *.shp file and quality report?
(using this : )

Hi, Yes im importing the shapes file in the way instructed.
Stock bases.shp (135.4 KB) Stocks.pdf (1.7 MB)
Hi @peter_faraday,
Could you please describe precisely how do you generate this shapefile?
It could be that you have tried to import a 2D shapefile where you need to use a 3D shapefile.
Did you also make sure that the coordinate system match?
Could please upload all the associated file with shape file here as well? (zip or all separated)
Thank you,
Best
Stock bases.zip (44.7 KB)
.DXF
STOCK BASES.zip (117.8 KB)
I use our survey package to create the bases from a survey then extort a 3D .DXF.
Open the .DXF in AutoCAD Civil then export it with the Mapexport function.
Its in the right location and level in AutoCAD. When i try to import it into Pix4D I get 1 triangle in the correct location and level, so somethings working.
