As seen in the screenshot I created multiple saved views, and the previews of these views have different layers turned on or off based on what I wanted to see at that time. However, when I actually click to go to that view, the system doesn’t automatically toggle the layers on or off when moving between the views. Additionally, when I created my animation, the entire animation was created and displayed the layers i had turned on when i hit create animation.
What I’m requesting:
Whatever layers I choose to have visible/invisible are saved in the view I create. This would allow me to highlight specific views/layers important to my project manager and move through them relatively quickly without having to manually toggle between a large list of layers. Additionally, I would like to see if those same saved views can be implemented into the create animation.
For example, with the specific screenshot I provided, my goal was to create a deliverable that showed the entire site as it sits, then have the animation transition to a repeat passover of the site with Layers turned on highlighting certain sections of the site showing actual progress as compared to the dxf plans.
Hi there, thank you for sharing your thoughts in detail, this is very helpful for us! We will look into improving views and flythroughs in 2025, so this is great feedback that we will take into account. I would love for us to add features that would allow you to better customize your project deliverables.
Out of curiosity:
How many flythroughs do you create per year?
Would it be useful for you to export a trajectory and import it into another project of the same area to replicate the video’s path?
Do you need labels to be visible in the views and video?
At the moment, I’m only creating approximately 1 flythrough a month, but I do expect that number to go up over the next 4-6 months as we have more projects we’re flying.
If I understand what your asking in the second question, the ability to export a trajectory, I’m not sure how useful that would be for me personally so, I can’t speak on it to much at this point. However, along the same line, the ability to save a template of the trajectory could be useful. For example, we have projects we fly weekly to monitor progress of earthworks. So, having a templated flythrough that gives consistent perspectives of the site could definitely be beneficial. If that requires an export to import into future flights, then yes that could be useful for me also.
Yes, it would be nice if I could toggle lables/text on and off. Similar to my original request, I would want it to be specific to each saved view. Where, if I have a total of 10 views saved for a flythrough, I may want the first few views to be nothing but the site so people viewing can get full perspective. The following views would then have the layers and labels I previously chose turned on. How that works in my mind, is I choose what layers I want to see, whether I’m looking at DSM, Mesh, Point Cloud etc. Whatever I have turned on or off the moment I click Save current view, is exactly what I see when I go back and click to see the saved view.
