I was wondering if you guys (Pix4D) had thought about this if not so, why? (out of curiosity)
Thanks.

Adding a comment because I’m curious to know that too
I am adding a comment too. I think there is a real interest in network processing to increase processing speed. It will be great if Pix4D could give an answer, as I am considering buying the software for my future company and that will definitely be a element of choice. Thanks
This would be a huge help for my company as well. We would likely buy more licenses if distributed processing was an option.
Hi all,
Yes are thinking about this! It would indeed be nice but it will take some time before it is ready.
Regards,
Hi,
do you have an idea of the release date of this network processing feature ?
Regards.
Hello Alexandre,
Unfortunately, we do not have any news yet regarding network processing. Network processing and efficient processing, in general, are requested by others and we will consider it in future versions of Pix4D Desktop. However, we cannot give any time plan for the moment.
Best regards,Â
Any news on this feature yet? Also, please do NOT make it dependent on GPU (like context capture does). I’d like to use my existing servers to process data. It’s kind of a nonstarter to sit watching progress bars on a workstation for days on end. And spending $4K on a server for processing (which isn’t good for anything else besides processing bitcoin) is a brick wall as well.
Thumbs up Ty!
Definitely would like to see network processing. We have quite a number of PC’s that can sit idle for a few days at a time. If we could harness this power to speed up jobs. Quadrupling memory, CPU and GPU cores, etc can only help (obviously not drop processing times by 75%) but would have to help!
@Ty, Gary, and Brenton thank you for joining the discussion.
I am sorry to report that distributed processing is not scheduled for a future version of Pix4D Desktop at this time. However, I can assure you that it will be considered as part of the ongoing development of Pix4D Desktop.
In the meantime, if you are concerned about processing time, you can consider tailoring your processing options for the sake of saving time without risking your final results. One trick that I learned from someone who processed projects regularly is that you can set your digital surface model and orthomosaic’s ground sampling distance to two times the project’s average ground sampling distance. My understanding is that doubling the DSM and orthomosaic’s ground sampling distance helped reduce processing time for Step 3 while at the same time producing no obvious artifacts.
Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.
Hi all,
I understand the desire to distribute processing across multiple computers so that you reduce processing time and take full advantage of your processing resources. I am sorry to report that distributed processing is not scheduled for a future version of Pix4D Desktop, but that it will be considered as part of the ongoing development of Pix4D Desktop.
If you would like to see a future version of Pix4D Desktop support distributed processing, please let us know by commenting below, and do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your understanding.
I hate to inform p4D that without distributed processing I am going to inform my company (a major engineering firm) to move away from p4D and to use Agisoft instead.
